You will join one of our operating teams who will teach you how to safely monitor all processes and equipment within the area you are assigned. With the mentorship of qualified team members you will gain valuable knowledge of working in a dynamic oil and gas environment.

You will contribute by:

- Monitoring all processes and equipment in assigned unit area
- Performing routine operating tasks, product sampling, and basic troubleshooting with creative solutions
- Assisting in preparation of equipment for maintenance
- Performing housekeeping duties, operational maintenance as assigned
- Job shadowing experienced field personnel to develop knowledge and experience in a heavy industrial operating environment
- Logging process changes and unit conditions in OLT (Operator Log Tool)

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

- You must be a full-time student in a recognized post-secondary institution who is returning to full-time studies in the fall
- You must be aligned with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raising the bar, commitments matter, and doing the right thing

Preference for:

- First or Second year students who are enrolled in the Chemical Engineering Technology, Oil and Gas Production Operator or Petroleum Engineering Technology program at an accredited post-secondary institution
- Oil and gas experience and previous safety training
- Mechanical aptitude and skills to allow hands-on operation of plant equipment (i.e. pumps, compressors, heaters, etc.)

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

- You will work out of our Edmonton refinery in Sherwood Park, located at 801 Petroleum Way. The Edmonton Refinery is not accessible via public transportation, you must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation at time of interview.
- This is a four-month work term starting the end of April 2023 to the beginning of September 2023.
- You must be prepared to work a rotating 12 hour shift schedule, including night shifts
- There will be some heavy lifting, use of ladders and working on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers
- You must be able to perform work in a variety of different environments, both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
- You must be willing and able to use a self-contained breathing apparatus
