Financial Controller

Kerr Group of Companies has the opportunity for a Financial Controller to support our Accounting / Finance team in a full-time role. This role reports directly to the CEO and will be a participating member of the Senior Leadership team at the Kerr Group of Companies.
The Financial Controller will be responsible for the maintenance and development of Kerr Group’s financial management strategy and will manage, direct and coordinate the daily activities of the finance department.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Direct supervision of the accounting team (coaching, professional development);
- Provide timely and accurate Financial reports;
- Participate in and manage the workload and progress of the accounting department;
- Perform annual performance appraisals as required;
- Create, coordinate, delegate and perform special projects as required;
- Ongoing development and implementation of Financial Processes.
- Preparation of Monthly Financial Statements & Coordinating Year End activities;
- Financial Analysis on a per project basis;
- Oversee billing transactions for Kerr Group of Companies;
- Maintain accounting books for Kerr Group of Companies;
- Manage the approval and processing of revenue, expenditure and capital expenditure;
- Managing Cashflow;
- Preparation of annual Forecasts & Budgets;
- Conduct variance analysis on monthly accounting transactions versus forecasted budget.
- Implement & maintain financial and security protocols for risk management;
- Assisting in Tax planning with external resources;
- Conducting due diligence on mergers & acquisitions;
- Submit all Regulatory filing (WCB, Source Deductions, HST, Corporate Tax).
**Qualifications**:
- Post-Secondary Education in Business with a focus in Accounting;
- CPA Designation required;
- 5 + years working in an accounting environment with progressively increasing responsibility;
- Previous management experience considered an asset.
Skills, efforts & attributes
- Previous experience working with accounting software, preferably Business Central
- Entrepreneurial sprit with the ability to encourage a positive and engaging team;
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Excellent time management skills
- Sound analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience working with Microsoft Excel, and SharePoint considered an asset
