The Central Alberta FASD Network is a non-profit organization offering community-based, cost-free and fee for service programming for persons impacted by Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), their caregivers and the community. We offer education, prevention, assessment and diagnosis, and outreach and support services. We are seeking a Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist to join our Red Deer Diagnostic Clinic Team providing assessment and diagnosis for individuals impacted by FASD. This is a part-time, fee for service, contracted position with the expectation of providing between 20 - 30 assessments annually.

**Job Summary**:

- As part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of a Physician, Psychologist, and Occupational Therapist, the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will contribute the following to the assessment and diagnosis process:

- Review any previous assessments,
- Complete assessments of the brain domains pertaining to language, executive function (TOPS-3), and social

language.
- May assess for Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, features that impact sleep, and other speech

Disorders.
- Determine the depth and breadth of the assessments, depending on the age and the receptiveness of

the individual on assessment day.
- Identify domain(s) impaired.
- Contribute to the discussion around diagnosis, recommendations, and interventions.
- Recommend timing and breadth of any future SLP assessment.
- Develop a detailed summary of the findings and recommendations to contribute to the final assessment

report.

**Education and Qualifications**:

- SLP’s must be registered with their provincial licensing and professional body (i.e., Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists
- ACSLPA) and hold a valid practice permit.
- Extensive knowledge regarding FASD, other disabilities, mental health and addictions is preferred but training can be provided.
- Commitment to a strength-based, client-centred approach.
- Superior communication ability and interpersonal skills.
- High level of personal integrity and ethical practice.
- High degree of Indigenous cultural awareness.
