- Under section 32 of the Youth Protection Act (YPA), the reviewer is delegated by the Director of Youth Protection to review the cases of each child in the care of the YPD. Their role is to ensure that all measures are taken to ensure the safe return of the child to his/her environment. If not, they must ensure the continuity of care and services and the stability of the child's ties and living conditions, in a permanent and appropriate manner according to the child's needs and age.
- Specifically, the purpose of the review is to:
- Maintain the child in the same situation;
- Propose other measures to help the child or his or her parents, in particular to encourage the child's return to his or her natural environment;
- If appropriate, demand the court for an order placing the child in an alternative living environment;
- Where appropriate, demand the court to recommend, appoint or replace a guardian;
- Act to place the child for adoption;
- Terminate the intervention when appropriate.

As part of their duties, the Reviewer is required to participate in team meetings once a month. Also, they will sometimes be called upon to travel within the service territory of the Batshaw Youth and Family Centres: Montreal and surrounding areas, as well as Prévost in the Laurentides.- Requirements :- Holds a Bachelor's degree in social work or equivalent;
- Is a member of the Quebec Order of Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists;
- Has 5 years of experience in youth protection;
- Has a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel.
- Is able to establish a good professional relationship with clients and colleagues;
- Has good knowledge of conflict management and time management;
- Has a good knowledge of child development;
- Is able to work with a multicultural and religious clientele;
- Ability to communicate professionally in French and English.
