The Faculty of Music, Wilfrid Laurier University, requires part-time contract teaching faculty (CTF) to teach the course listed below at the Waterloo campus. Following is a brief description of the course to indicate the content and level of difficulty. Application items below suggested as optional are strongly recommended. **Position Summary**:
Individual applied study in an alternative (non-classical) curriculum for guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, and electric bass guitar.

Genres may include pop, rock, soft rock, indie/alternative, jazz, blues, metal, punk, and math rock. Instructional topics may include fingerpicking and flatpicking styles, phrasing, complex chords, pedals, and improvisation techniques.

Group component class focuses on the fundamentals of the professional musician, such as: How to practice, self-assess, work with amplification equipment, giving and receiving feedback, dealing with performance anxiety, body mapping, reducing excess tension in the body, and strategies for self-care as a musician.

**Qualifications - Required**: Master’s in Music or equivalent professional experience (national or international teaching profile) or post-secondary credential.
**Qualifications - Preferred**:DMA in Guitar or Bass

**Qualifications - Discipline**: Guitar or Bass performance

**Qualifications - Areas of Specialization**: A minimum of 3 years of professional performing experience and a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in diverse genres/styles.

- Evidence of being a sought-after instructor, such as festival/competition clinician/adjudicator; guest masterclasses/workshops;
- Evidence of student success (acceptance to university music programs, awards at competitions/festivals);
- National/International performance profile as a soloist and/or collaborative and innovative interdisciplinary artist or composer-performer;
- Teaching experience at the University level.

**Salary**: Hourly rate: $71.76 - $104.07
