**About Us**:
The Department of Natural Resources and Renewables is responsible for the development, management, conservation, and protection of energy, forests, minerals, parks, and wildlife resources. The optimum economic, social, and environmental value derived from our Province’s natural resources is the guiding principle behind our work.

The Strategic Priorities Division provides project management, analytical support, and advisory services to advance priority initiatives across the Department.

**About Our Opportunity**:
The Research and Stats Officer’s responsibilities require close coordination with other divisions in the Department, other provincial departments, and other levels of government.

**Primary Accountabilities**:
The Research and Stats Officer will have an important role in facilitating cross-department policies, projects, and programs. In this role, you will:
- Support policy development by providing research, analysis, and jurisdictional scans on a variety of complex issues relating to the Department’s mandate;
- Prepare clear, accurate, and timely briefing materials;
- Coordinate and track projects and the deliverables of project teams;
- Report on progress of project teams and other initiatives as required; and
- Track, monitor, and report on Divisional budget, including procurements and related tasks.

As Research and Stats Officer, you will report to the Manager of the Strategic Priorities Division.**Qualifications and Experience**:
As a successful applicant, you will hold a Bachelor’s degree and an equivalent combination of training and experience.

You are well-organized, capable of managing change and competing priorities. You can undertake work under tight deadlines and track a number of diverse projects simultaneously.

You have experience conducting research and providing input into briefing notes, policies, and presentations. In addition, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Knowledge of and experience with general office software is required (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, etc.). Experience in SAP software systems is considered an asset.

Also, you will be able to work cohesively in multiple team environments and be able to take on complex assignments.

We will assess the above qualifications using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

**Working Conditions**:

- Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.- Mostly office-based work with occasional requirements to travel and attend meetings, within Nova Scotia and to other provinces.
