IMCO is looking for a highly motivated Analyst, Public Equities, to join our team

As a critical member of the Investments team, the Analyst, Public Equities, is responsible for supporting the Portfolio Managers and Managing Director across the Public Equity asset class in managing the high conviction multi-manager Canadian, Global, and Emerging Market equity strategies. The primary emphasis will be to conduct asset class-specific research and portfolio reporting to support the identification and evaluation of investment opportunities, as well as conduct analytical reviews of components of the investment strategies and plans.

As a Member of Our Team, You Will Be Responsible For:
- Contributing to the management of the high conviction multi-manager public equity strategies to achieve higher than benchmark return over the longer term.- Assessing current data input environment to devise more efficient, script or code-based methods to increase efficiency and timeliness.- Supporting the development and maintenance of ad-hoc reports related to investment performance, monitoring and portfolio activities.- Ensuring information in the Public Equities portfolio software is up-to-date, accurate and useful. Generating reports and analysis to be utilized by the senior team in the decision-making process and providing support in general analysis and review of investments and portfolio.- Generating and collating reports quarterly to be utilized as inputs and supporting material for various internal committees and external stakeholders.- Monitoring portfolios to ensure that they are managed within stated and expected risk/return profiles- Conducting research and analysis on a broad range of topics to support investment decision-making across Public Equity asset class.- Assisting the Public Equities team in the due diligence process and the preparation of investment reports and presentation materials.-
- Participating in the evaluation of new opportunities by reviewing offering memoranda and other supporting documentation including financial models for new funds and participating in external manager meetings, as required.- Producing reports and analysis to be utilized by the senior team in the decision-making process and providing support in general analysis and review of existing and potential investments and portfolio.- Participating in producing investment performance commentaries for internal and external distribution, including monthly or quarterly meetings and Investment Committee meetings.- Supporting internal strategic project initiatives, conducting other analysis and performance-related tasks, as required- Working closely with the risk team to ensure the investment and operational risk of the portfolio is captured correctly and measured.- Collaborating with Public Equities Fundamental and Factor teams to monitor developments across the equity strategies to identify opportunities and risks.- Collaborating with the Responsible Investing team to integrate IMCO’s ESG initiative to the Public Equity program.- Collaborating with Finance, Investment Operations & Accounting, and other Investment professionals, on issues related to IMCO’s Public Equities investments.

What do you need to succeed?- One (1) to three (3) years of relevant public equities experience in the general asset management or financial services industry is preferred.- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Financial Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline is required.- Minimum CFA Level 1 completion is required. Designation (or working towards the designation) is considered an asset.- Experience in programming languages, including Python and VBA is required.- Advanced Excel experience is required. Experience with Bloomberg and MSCI Barra One is considered an asset.- Excellent quantitative, analytical, financial modelling, problem-solving, and researching skills with strong attention to detail.- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels and cultivate key partnerships to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.- Strong written
