Waterdown, Canada Flamborough Connects Full time

**Who we are**: Flamborough Connects, located in Waterdown, Ontario, offers free and low-cost programs for Flamborough youth, seniors and families and runs Flamborough Volunteers.

**What you’ll do**: The Youth Coordinator runs the Youth Empowerment Program, including attending and leading weekly evening events throughout Flamborough (Waterdown, Carlisle, Freelton, Sheffield), promoting the program and recruiting attendees, according to set guidelines and outlines and under the direction of the Executive Director. The Youth Coordinator also meets monthly with the Youth Leadership Team (consisting of older youth leaders in the program) to incorporate youth membership ideas into the program and runs Flamborough Youth Volunteers, promoting youth volunteerism in Flamborough.

**Hours**: part-time (12 hrs/week) from September to December 2023, with the possibility of an extension to the end of April 2024, pending available funding. Start date of September 5, 2023.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Under the direction of the Executive Director,
- Cultivate an inclusive and supportive environment for teenagers aged 12-18
- Lead the Youth Empowerment Program (YEP), receive input from and delegate tasks to the Youth Leadership Team
- Encourage participation of young individuals in activities aligned with their interests
- Recruit and onboard youth leaders, effectively communicating program goals and benefits
- Recruit and onboard youth volunteers, effectively communicating volunteer opportunities
- Create opportunities for youth volunteers to engage in community service projects and make a positive impact on society
- Reach out to external organizations to compile volunteering opportunities and maintain a volunteering database
- Create marketing tools for promotion using Canva and other platforms
- Demonstrate active engagement and serve as a positive role model for the youth
- Attend and actively participate in staff development and in-service meetings when necessary
- Collect statistics, prepare monthly reports, and participate in other related tasks as needed

**Requirements**:

- Must provide vulnerable sector police record check
- Must have G license, insurance and reliable vehicle to travel throughout area as needed
- Knowledge of rural Hamilton, Flamborough and Waterdown would be a great asset
- Working knowledge of social, educational, employment, health and youth service resources within Hamilton
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills complemented by strong interpersonal, time-management and presentation skills
- Excellent technology, social media, and communication platform skills
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to the experiences of those in community needing social supports

**Education and Qualifications**:

- Previous work experience leading youth programs
- Previous work experience supporting and coordinating a volunteer base
- College or University diploma or degree in Volunteer Management, Child and Youth Work or related field is an asset
