**Job Summary**:Reporting to the Director, Cancer Program and Erie St. Clair Regional Cancer Program (ESC RCP), the Manager, Oncology Research and Informatics will provide leadership to a diverse and significant portfolio consisting of the Clinical Trials, Decision Support and Health Records teams.
The Manager is responsible for the growth, integrity and operations of the Clinical Trials department, as well as acting as a resource for research activities within the Cancer Program in alignment with the WRH Office of Research. Developing new and maintaining existing relationships with research funding partners and organizations are critical for clinical research sustainability.
The Manager leads the development, implementation, maintenance and optimization of our informatics and electronic initiatives, ensuring alignment with overall organizational direction. The manager is responsible for the specific reporting functions which result in funding for the entire Cancer Program.
This is a large portfolio that extends to and supports the core functions of each area of the Cancer Program. The need for relevant metrics and current evaluable data is constant by multiple departments of this large program, including Systemic Oncology, Pharmacy, Radiation Oncology, Psychosocial Oncology, and Cancer Screening. Responsibilities extend beyond the program’s walls to provide support to our regional partners in order to ensure OH reporting obligations such as Screening, Symptom and Treatment metrics are being appropriately collected and reported.
Key areas of focus include ensuring research is conducted following applicable regulations while adhering to the highest of ethical standards, accurate and timely reporting of all required program metrics to external and internal partners, developing and implementing methods that ensure quality data collection, and providing data insights and reporting to improve care quality.
In summary, this position will oversee initiatives that elevate oncology research, improve data quality, and enhance program operations while upholding the vision of WRH, Outstanding Care - No Exceptions.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
**Informatics Oversight**
- Work proactively with Managers, Directors, Senior Management and other key stakeholders for alignment, management, and delivery of prioritized work plan of system enhancements, growth, and adoption related to the Hospital Information System (HIS) and other technology enablers.
- Manage and inform on multiple critical electronic systems and interfaces between systems in relation to program functions:

- Cerner Powerchart functionality, reporting, interfacing and optimizations
- Mosaiq software and complex interfaces with 3 (soon to be 4) Radiation Treatment machines
- 3M software for ALR data reporting and interface with Cerner Powerchart
- Decommissioning and archiving of ageing electronic systems (Lotus Notes, OPIS 2005)
- Direct the collection of end-user and other stakeholder needs for informatics solutions, including clinical processes, data mining and reporting, and manage the conversion of these needs into system requirements for the Program.
- Participates in the development of quality standards, controls and procedures to ensure that all proposed solutions
- Lead the development and implementation of capacity building strategies to strengthen the use of data across the Program to improve each part of the Quadruple Aim.
- Responsible for ensuring all relevant reporting elements of the Ontario Health Product Matrix are functioning and information is reported as required.
- This work directly affects the Program’s and the Hospital’s receipt of ministry funding as it relates to Cancer Services: screening, surgery, treatment and management.
- Oversee the development of processes and tools that manage compliance to above funding models (i.e. CCO-Databook, Activity Level Reporting, QBP), and establish changes to maximize funding allocation for the Program.
- Implement quality monitoring/improvement processes for clinical/non-clinical data collection and establish mechanisms to monitor quality performance.
- Manage and provide oversight of the specialized Health Records Oncology Coding team.

**Clinical Research Oversight**
- Fosters relationships in the Clinical Research space, both internally and externally, that will provide opportunity for research growth for the program.
- Responsible contact between Oncology Research Program and National/Provincial funding groups such as the Canadian Cancer Clinical Trials Network (3CTN) and the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR).
- Responsible contact for pharmaceutical research pipeline; ensure research site is a desirable site to keep new studies pipeline healthy.
