Home Hardware has an exciting opportunity available for a **Payroll Specialist** to join our Human Resources Team. Reporting to the Manager, Payroll, you will be responsible for timely and accurate payroll processing while ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and company policies. In this key role, you will be part of a fantastic and collaborative team who processes pay using an in-house integrated HR/Payroll system.

**What you’ll do**:

- Work within a team to ensure bi-weekly payroll processing is accurate and on-time.
- Audit and input Team Member payroll related data bi-weekly (i.e., new hires, transfers, changes, terminations), ensuring accuracy and completeness for 5 company payrolls. Ensure compliance with HRIS requirements.
- Audit time data for Team Members considering corporate policy and provincial Employment Standards compliance.
- Administer personal leaves of absence and review details of leaves to ensure compliance with Employment Standards. Calculate and process maternity/parental leave top-ups.
- Issue Records of Employment.
- Maintain accuracy of vacation groups, codes, and formulas to ensure proper entitlements, accruals, and transfer of vacation data entitlements to pay statements.
- Remit bi-weekly, monthly, or annual premiums to the Workers Compensation Board, Group RRSP, and Defined Benefits pension.

***What we’re looking for**:

- College Diploma in Business or Finance with 3-5 years of related experience.
- Advanced payroll knowledge. A PCP designation or actively working towards this designation required.
- Knowledge of payroll practices in various provinces would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of personal leaves of absence and related payroll calculations.
- Ability to calculate employees’ assessable earnings for Workers Compensation remittance and reconciliation.
- Extensive HR/Payroll systems knowledge is required. Understanding of a ‘test environment’ would be considered an asset.
- Extensive MS Office knowledge with a focus on Excel and Word.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to be tactful and to stay calm in difficult situations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
