Working under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Administrative Assistant I is responsible for administrative activities related to clinical research in the Blood Disorders Program, including but not limited to: organizing & scheduling appointments for tests, preparing clinic rooms, orders supplies, preparation of kits, preparation & submission of patient reimbursements; communicates effectively in person or by telephone with internal and external parties; assists study team with the collection of medical documents, cross-references and reconciles functional cost center, provides assistant with the maintenance & modification of electronic and paper information, filing/retrieval methods, systems and/or formats. Plans and facilitates meetings, including agenda and minute creation. Coordinates physician coverage of research duties, and schedule management.

**Qualifications**:

- At minimum, Community College Diploma in General or Medical Office or equivalent Administration
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience;
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with UHN/Department standards
- Moderate solving and decision making skills with ability to exercise initiative and good judgment
- Proven ability to conform to established standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organization, prioritization skills, advanced computer skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail
- Ability to perform multiple concurrent tasks
- Knowledge of clinical research and of human research regulations and guidelines of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies, an asset.
- Client service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
