Photovoltaics has been identified as a key technology in the necessary transition away from fossil-combustion-based energy sources. Perovskite solar cells have received tremendous attention in recent years due to their unprecedented sprint in power conversion efficiency and ease of processing. Despite great success, some challenges still remain to be addressed to facilitate the commercialization of this exciting technology. Amongst them, the use of low-cost deposition methods alongside confirmed long-term operational stability of devices is critical for market entry.
**Job description**:
Solaires is looking for an experienced and visionary Manufacturing Manager to spearhead the creation of photovoltaics devices production line, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of our manufacturing operations. **Duties and responsibilities**
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Develop a comprehensive project plan outlining key milestones, timelines, and resource requirements for building a production line.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless execution.
- Work closely with architects and engineers to design an efficient and optimized production facility layout.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental considerations.
- Equipment Selection and Procurement:
- Identify and select appropriate manufacturing equipment and machinery for the production line.
- Manage the procurement process, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely delivery of equipment.
- Build and lead a high-performing team, including hiring, training, and mentoring staff.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting continuous improvement and problem-solving.
- Implement robust quality control processes to ensure the production line meets or exceeds quality standards.
- Enforce and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, identify potential hazards, and take corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Continuously optimize manufacturing processes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and product quality.
- Develop and manage the budget for the production line build, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to financial constraints.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with procurement to optimize the supply chain and control raw material costs.
**Knowledge and Skills**
Knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position include:
- Proficiency in the Chinese language.
- Proficiency in the English language.
- At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing management, with a proven track record of successfully building production lines.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion.
- In-depth knowledge of photovoltaic manufacturing processes, equipment, and best practices.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
**Education**:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Process Engineering or related field. A Master’s degree is an asset.
**Other requirements**:
- Applicants for this position must currently reside in Canada or China and be willing to travel back and forth between these two countries.
**Salary**: From $4,000.00 per month
