**MANDATE OF THE JOB**:
The Telephone Adjuster is mainly responsible for handling minor to moderate size property and physical damage automobile claims. The role is to provide excellent customer service throughout with proper investigation of the loss, evaluation of coverage, negotiation of the claim and its ultimate settlement within the parameters of the policy wording and using the standards and guidelines set forth in the Claims Manual.
**MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Coverage determination, investigation, negotiation and settlement of property claims
- Timely and effective contact with insureds, third parties, vendors and independent adjusters in order to establish a fair settlement.
- Clear and concise communication with all involved parties
- Regular exchange of information/communication between departments as it pertains to the risk.
- Handle general inquiry phone calls as well as claims reported by phone from insureds and brokers
- Attempt subrogation whenever possible and handle salvage recovery
- All other related tasks
**REQUIRED QUALIFICICATIONS**:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management, prioritization, organizational and planning skills required;
- Ability to problem solve and self-motivated and work independently;
- Excellent telephone and negotiation skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and efficiency; good team player;
- Completion or commitment to complete CIP designation;
- Minimum of 2 years prior experience in a similar adjusting role with a file count of 115+. Preference for experience with Residential Property claims as well as Alberta Auto claims would be an asset, however as a minimum requirement there must be dedicated experience to property or auto claims with a willingness to be trained on other lines of coverage
