**What responsibilities will you have in this role?**
- Determines suitability of employer’s positions based on program outcomes and ensures that they meet the program guidelines and desired outcomes.
- Identifies ways to improve and build upon the work placement and co-op program through continuous evaluation of workplaces and student experiences based upon student journals, weekly evaluations, employer evaluations, one on one feedback meetings.
- Collaborates with Marketing, providing feedback and suggestions on new marketing collateral and messaging to industry with emphasis on increasing quality and quantity of placement sites / partners.
- Develops and maintains quality relationships with ongoing industry partners by acting as the main point of contact ensuring needs are being met.
- Coordinates the industry recruitment and student selection/placement match for externship process resulting in placing students with appropriate industry partners.
- Coaches students for improved performance throughout their placement, responds to student questions and works to resolve concerns by mediating and negotiating solutions where possible.
- Works with Faculty, Program Coordinators and Chairs to roll out new co-op and field placement programs as required.
- Manages the job posting/closing process on ORBIS,
- Manages assigned students, journals case notes on ORBIS, liaising with faculty and ensuring that they are kept abreast of problems and issues that may arise with students while in their workplace.
- Ensures that the student handbook and all employer information are accurate with most current policies and procedures defined.
- Delivers ORBIS training to students and others within the faculty who may require it.
- Implements a career preparation program and ensures student success.
- Educates students on the co-op/field placement process, industry work expectations and assisting them with soft skill enhancement in preparation for the workplace.
- Prepares, coaches, and advises students individually and through classroom instruction on appropriate job search methodology best needed to secure a work term/placement and to ease the transition from school to the workplace.
- Provides assessments of resumes, cover letters and interviewing skills and assisting students to design their individual job search strategy.
- Prepares the necessary documents and materials for presentation to students, in the classroom and individually on the tools required to secure a work or field placement that meets the industry standard and is aligned with the academic calendar.
- Assigns tasks to Customer Service Representatives, and student volunteers who assist with events.
- Trains Dean’s Rec Volunteers on tasks to ensure that events are run smoothly and professionally.
- Provides guidance, direction, and support to the Externship & Recruitment Officer on a regular basis to follow up on work activities and to ensure that work projects related to the department are on track and complete.
- Other related duties as assigned.

**What qualifications do you need for this role?**
- Three year diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Hospitality & Tourism, Public Relations, Marketing, Human Resources Management or a combination of education and experience.
- Proven proficiency with providing excellence service to customers, students, and staff.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience working independently and with a team supporting students/clients in job placement, recruitment and selection, employment coaching; combined with the demonstrated ability to facilitate the education and career preparation process for post-secondary students; combined with strong marketing and public relations experience working with industry related partners.
- Currency in the field of hospitality to interact effectively with employers and manage relationships is needed.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a large case load while balancing other duties with non-negotiable deadlines and conflicting priorities; high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent research skills to identify the target markets and to follow the labour market trends in the industry and to demonstrate the ability to use labour market statistics for a
