The Canadian Dental Association (CDA) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Media Relations Specialist to join its Governance & Communications team on a full-time basis. Under the direction of the Head of Governance & Communications, the Media Relations Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing media strategies to promote the work of the CDA to the public and the media.

**Your primary responsibilities will be;**
- to respond to media inquiries, and action requests in a timely and professional manner.
- to write media responses, key messages, Op-Eds, news releases, statements, message event proposals and communications/media relations plans under the direction of the Communications Manager/Head of Governance & Communications.
- to prepare spokespersons for interviews with support from the Communications Manager.
- to develop and maintain relationships with national, provincial, and local media outlets.
- to monitor and analyze media coverage involving CDA and issues impacting the dental profession and the oral health of Canadians.
- to maintain a list of key words to help identify relevant news stories when using various media monitoring tools.
- to coordinate media events such as news conferences and technical briefings to promote the work of CDA.
- to work cross functionally with CDA staff to develop content and implement effective media strategies to support CDA’s communications channels, programs, services and priority issues.
- to coordinate annual media training for CDA officials and elected officials of CDA Corporate Members.

**You should have**:

- a post-secondary degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- the ability to work seamlessly in both official languages (French and English)
- a willingness to work in a hybrid environment, which may require working some days in the office.
- a minimum of 2 years experience

**And if;**
- you have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop engaging and informative content for a variety of audiences.
- you have experience working with the media, including responding to media inquiries and coordinating media events.
- you love to work in a fast-paced environment.
- you have developed proven methods to catalogue approved media responses for quick retrieval/repurposing.
- you possess strong organizational and time management skills.
- you have experience with media monitoring tools such as Critical Mention, Meltwater, NewsEdge, setting up RSS feeds and Google Alerts.
- you have the necessary professionalism and judgment to communicate effectively and develop relationships with high-level stakeholders.
- you have the ability to multitask while maintaining an above-average attention to detail.
