**REPORTS TO**:Manager, Community Engagement and Volunteer Relations

**SUMMARY**:
**As the Communications Specialist, you will be responsible for the development and delivery of RNH’s annual communications plan, developing and executing social media, website management, writing a variety of communications products, and supporting the organization’s media relations needs and initiatives.**

You will engage with families, staff, volunteers, partners, and stakeholders to support RNH in fulfilling its mission. You will do so through several communication initiatives, including but not limited to supporting the rollout of RNH’s social media plans; creating compelling content for the corporate website; supporting advocacy initiatives; contributing to the family and stakeholder newsletters, annual reports, and other communication tools to share valuable information.

On a project-by-project basis assigned by the leadership team, the coordinator will also support RNH staff by responding to the communications needs of the children, youth, and families we serve.

**CORE RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Participate in creating and executing an annual communications plan, in support of RNH’s mission and strategic plan.
- Provide oversight and management of the RNH digital asset library.
- Monitor and maintain brand standards.
- Manage, develop, organize, and maintain the external website.
- Monitor, measure, and report on the impact of communications efforts over time.
- Participate on working-groups and committees to provide communication advice and support.
- Provide writing, editing and proofreading support of various communications.
- Provide external media relations support to RNH staff as needed.
- Work closely with the RNH leadership team, the CHEO Foundation, and other stakeholders, to fulfil requests for story content and develop and produce features for the CHEO Telethon and other marquee fundraising events.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with CHEO's communications divisions, the CHEO Foundation, and the Ottawa Senators to promote an efficient flow of information as required for promotions, publications, and fundraising efforts.
- Promote and ensure best practices in communications.
- Demonstrate values, attitudes, and beliefs toward working with children that reflect the RNH Code of Conduct to Protect Children in our Care, including maintenance of professional boundaries.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Police record check (PRC) (Essential)
- College Diploma or University degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or Marketing; or BA with focus on writing (Essential)
- Minimum Three - years of related experience (Essential)
- Minimum Three years of experience managing social media channels (Essential)
- Familiarity with social media, content management systems and analytics tools (Essential)
- Experience developing and executing communication plans (Essential)
- Website management experience (Essential)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple priorities (Essential)
- Strong attention to detail, administrative, communication and organizational skills (Essential)
- Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills (Essential)
- Competent in Microsoft Office suite (Essential)
- Proficiency in diverse product development software and hardware (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, infographics, video production and editing) (Essential)
- Bilingualism (French/English) (preferred)

The work location of this position is hybrid, time being shared between home and onsite at Roger Neilson House.
