BILINGUAL COORDINATOR, Pathways to Teach Canada

Full-time position, 24-month contract

Current salary range: $100,391-$114,740, depending on experience and qualifications

Work arrangement can be remote, in-person, or hybrid

The Pathways to Teach Canada Consortium, composed of members from participating provincial and territorial regulatory bodies for the teaching profession, will be used in an advisory capacity to support the Bilingual Coordinator, Pathways to Teach Canada.

The Bilingual Coordinator, Pathways to Teach Canada will be a member of CMEC’s leadership team and report to the Director, International Sector. You will collaborate with other coordinators, directors, and the Executive Director to achieve CMEC and corporate priorities, and to identify and mitigate risk.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the effective management of all administrative aspects of the new services offered by Pathways to Teach Canada, and procurement processes and contractual agreements for third-party vendors
- Help define and execute the Pathways to Teach Canada strategy and policy directions and lead change management processes with key stakeholders, ensuring adequate support, and managing risks and benefits accordingly
- Work directly with registrars and senior representatives of participating provincial and territorial regulatory bodies for the teaching profession in Canada; third-party vendors that provide the services; external expert consultants; and federal, provincial, and territorial government officials
- Provide senior-level leadership and expertise on the work of CMEC for which you are responsible
- Oversee the planning, resourcing, and implementation of strategic plan activities
- Engage in strategic thinking while ensuring effective communications with provincial and territorial members and staff to meet the strategic plan objectives of CMEC
- Supervise a team of two unionized employees to achieve annual work plan deliverables.
- Contribute to the identification and mitigation of risk and to the leadership of the overall organization

Key qualifications
- Superior command of French and English, both written and spoken
- Graduate degree or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrated leadership and at least four years of experience in a management position (or equivalent), managing projects and employees, preferably in a unionized environment
- Demonstrated experience providing ongoing feedback and coaching to colleagues and teams, and leading work through partners who are outside the coordinator’s direct supervision
- Experience developing, monitoring, and reporting against operational and project-specific budgets
- Experience in the procurement of third-party vendors and negotiating contracts
- Highly developed decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Ease with public speaking to a broad range of audiences
- Exceptional relationship building skills and developed collaborative, networking, and negotiating skills to work with a broad spectrum of government officials and other partners
- Ability to delegate tasks and coach and develop others
- Ability to exercise discretion and tact in highly confidential and politically sensitive situations
- Knowledge of teacher-education programs as well as the general knowledge of assessment and recognition of language competencies and other qualifications issued to teachers in Canada
- Experience in the public sector or a professional regulatory body
- Understanding of education systems in Canada
