**Summary**:
Analysis, research and development of materials and processing engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for products design, or operations of Landing Gear designs.

**Typical Roles/Area of Focus**
- Perform duties with the Materials and Process Engineering Team serving as a specialist in the areas chemical processing, heat treating, surface finishing, metallurgical testing, and failure analysis of metallic structures.
- Consult with Value Stream Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain and Quality as needed.
- Work with plant sites and/or sub-tier suppliers to troubleshoot processing issues.
- Perform material and chemical testing and verification tests within the lab.
- Review and Troubleshoot issues within the supply base.
- Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to perform root cause investigations of metallic, non-metallic, composite, and polymer materials.
- Creates and implements common procedures and standard work across the organization to optimize efficiency and quality.
- Performs material analyses that include, but are not limited to, failure analysis of components, systems, and subsystems
- Will review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.
- Applies engineering principles to drive interim and final solutions to technical, operational and quality issues as they relate to production. Implements, develops and maintain product/process improvements.
- Teams with others in root cause analysis.
- Utilize continuous improvement tools to participate in process improvements. Collaborate with the Production Team to meet business metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost).

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- With supervision, performs the M&PT roles as described above.
- Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
- Can interface effectively with all levels of the organization, suppliers and customers.
- Demonstrate proactive problem solving and self-directed behavior
- Drives improvements to existing processes.
- Impacts value stream level objectives

- Understands the CORE philosophy

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Landing gear materials and processing experience is preferred.

**Basic Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree (in Metallurgical engineering, Materials science, chemistry, or Chemical engineering or other related technical field) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience OR
- In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is required.
