Oakville, Canada Sheridan College Full time

Reporting to the Associate Director, Employer Relations and Business Development, the Employment Development Specialist guides the Employer Services team and is responsible for the research, planning, implementation, and follow-up of all employment-related activities and programming delivered to both students and alumni. The Specialist fosters on-going relationships with internal customers in various departments of the college, as well as with external employer partners. The Specialist is responsible for the marketing of the Career Centre’s activities and develops career and employment related programming to enhance the employability of Sheridan’s students.

What You’ll be Doing

Designing new programming, for current students and alumni, directed specifically at connecting students with employers for mentoring and networking activities, along with part-time and graduate employment prospects;
Creating tailored events and initiatives with Faculties to engage students in a variety of activities, including employer panels, networking events and virtual job fairs;
Determining logistics of events along with project timelines and working within approved budgets;
Preparing students by providing networking education, guidance on resume and cover letter preparation, etc.;
Reviewing all services to employers and related processes and procedures;
Collaborating with Cooperative Education and Work-Integrated Learning to coordinate seamless access for employers;
Ensuring programming meets the needs of a diverse student population and is tailored to Faculties, industries and those with potential barriers to employment;
Assessing and evaluating existing programming related to employment, and making changes based on new industry needs, student requirements, and available internal and external resources;
Collaborating with Marketing and Communication to develop robust marketing materials for potential employers, to promote services to students and internal partners;
Recruiting employers to participate in Career Fairs that provide students and alumni opportunities for employment;
Researching the changing trends of the labour market, occupations and industries; analyzing how these trends impact the employability of Sheridan’s graduates in all Academic programs; creating reports for college distribution;
Liaising with business groups to provide relevant feedback to the college regarding current industry requirements, updated hiring procedures, forecasting human resources needs, etc.;
Performing other related duties, as assigned.

4-year degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Leadership Management, or related field

5 years of progressive experience in career/employment program and service design (equivalency will be considered)

Solid event planning experience, including hosting virtual events, and demonstrated success

Excellent presentation skills

Demonstrated experience and expertise developing assessment of programs & activities to meet strategic goals

Experience marketing programs and services

Additional qualification within Career and Work advising/counselling will be considered an asset
