**The opportunity**:
The NCTR Access & Privacy Coordinator facilitates access to the records held by the Centre through responding to inquiries and requests from Residential School Survivors, their families, and the general public and also the proactive disclosure of records held in the Centre’s archival collection. This position provides support to all archival and research areas of the NCTR. The position involves working with sensitive information, and a high degree of confidentiality is required.

The Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to respond to Access to Information Requests for the NCTR, review and redaction of archival records for proactive disclosure. They also support the administrative and archives team and assist in research for responsive records as needed.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Bachelor's degree or College diploma or a comparable equivalent combination of education and experience
- Additional education in a related field, including Indigenous studies, Indigenous governance, office administration, law, access and privacy, government or policy analysis, or information management preferred.
- A minimum of five years' experience working within an office environment required.
- Experience in dealing effectively and diplomatically with varying levels of staff within the organization and the public, and ability to foster harmonious working relationships with other staff, both academic and support, is required.
- Experience in dealing respectfully and in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner with Indigenous Survivors and Intergenerational Survivors.
- Previous experience with access to information and protection of privacy legislation including The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation Act preferred.
- Experience with the review and redaction of documents an asset.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities, organizations, and groups is an asset.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Experience working with an Indigenous led organization.
- Familiarity with The University of Manitoba and The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.
