**HIS390H1S Slavery in Latin America**

This seminar focuses on the history of African slavery in Latin America from its origins in the fifteenth century to its abolition in the nineteenth century. Readings will draw from primary sources and historical scholarship related to a range of topics, including the slave trade, gender, religious and cultural practices, and emancipation.

**Minimum qualifications**

**Preferred qualifications**: PhD in History preferred. Demonstrated evidence of superior undergraduate teaching preferred. Previous experience teaching a similar course is highly desirable.

**Description of duties**:
Course preparation, lecturing, marking. There will be 24 hours of lectures in this course and one office hour per teaching week.
