As the Assistant Manager you will have primary responsibility for all day-to-day operations of the Marina providing the leadership and setting exceptional standards of ‘Yes I Can’ service performance in order to deliver unforgettable experiences on the ocean to our customers. The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for professionally upholding the OBMG Core Values, building an enthusiastic team, positive community relations and supporting all aspects of the operation and facilities. This includes contracted and guest moorage, retail, fuel and charter services, maintenance of the facilities and grounds, and building positive relationships with members of the community. This position reports to the General Manager.

- Ensure the service standards and maintenance of the Marina and surrounding areas is up to OBMG standards, creating an exceptional guest environment and a safe and secure environment for all customers and crew.
- Set the pace and lead by working shoulder to shoulder with crew to assist in providing guests an optimal guest experience.
- Assist the General Manager to ensure that revenue targets are met in all departments; ensures the Marina is at full capacity.
- Ensure labour costs and controllable expenses are managed consistent with OBMG policy, cost targets and customer service standards.
- Assist the General Manager in preparing the annual budget; is responsible for meeting cash flow and budgeted revenue objectives to meet annual profit objectives.
- Maintain the Marina in a sustainable and environmentally sound manner consistent with the terms and conditions of the Oak Bay Marina Ltd. marina Moorage License Agreement and the Rules & Regulations contract with moorage customers and in alignment with provincial and national regulations.
- Work closely with the General Manager, to recruit crew members that conduct themselves in accordance with the “Yes I Can” philosophy and our Core Values.
- Supervise all crew members to establish systems to improve crew morale and motivation levels, including one-on-one reviews and on-the-spot coaching for the development and retention of crew. Follow up on training, including guest service standards, and participate in OBMG training programs and initiatives.
- Ensure all inventories of merchandise, fuel and other supplies are kept up to date in a manner appropriate with the season and business levels of the marina.
- Ensure the disaster and emergency spill response program is clearly communicated and trained to all affected.

**Experience**:

- A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in managing a hospitality, recreational, marina complex.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience training and leading teams in a customer service environment.

**Education and Technical Skills**:

- Post-secondary education in Business Administration/Commerce, Hospitality, Recreational or Property Management or equivalent credentials or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of Products.
- Solid management, leadership, organizational and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of boats and boating is desired.
- Aware of environmental issues as they pertain to boating and marina operations.
- Pleasure Craft Operator’s Certificate (PCOC) an asset.
- Emergency First Aid and C.P.R. an asset.
