**Position Summary**:
This position is situated at the Brantford campus and in a virtual capacity supports multi-campus writing initiatives and programs including, tutor training, graduate writing appointments, resource development, and administrative and communication tasks. This position has flexible hours of work to accommodate remote and evening instruction and will require occasional travel to Laurier’s Waterloo campus.

**Accountabilities**:

- Develops and delivers in-course, discipline-specific writing support for instructors teaching at both the undergraduate and the graduate level on the Brantford campus. In-class workshops are customized for each course to support the goals and learning objectives set out by the instructor and to teach students the writing conventions of the discipline.
- Conducts individual 50-minute writing consultations (both in-person at Brantford and remote at all campuses) for Undergraduate, Masters students, PhD students, and multilingual writers to support student growth and performance in the larger context of discipline-specific research and writing conventions.
- Develops and delivers programming for multilingual writers at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Offers dedicated writing appointments for multilingual writers at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- In collaboration with the Writing Services team, co-ordinates the undergraduate and graduate tutoring program.
- Supports the development and revision of online modules related to academic writing as requested by faculty and program coordinators.
- Works with the Writing Services team to deliver graduate level workshops for Major Research Proposals and ASPIRE.
- Works with the Writing Services team to develop and deliver the university-wide undergraduate workshop series on academic writing, drawing on current research on academic writing and writing pedagogy.
- Works with the educational developers to provide expertise on writing curriculum within courses and programs.
- Researches student writing issues and problems at all levels of study to enhance program development and to support faculty and institutional needs.
- Delivers presentations and attends relevant conferences.
- Conducts annual surveys of various aspects of the Writing Services Program.
- Handles all writing services promotion and supports the maintenance of the writing services website.

**Qualifications**:

- PhD in composition/rhetoric; will consider a Masters in composition/rhetoric with substantial experience in Second Language Writing, Translingualism, and/or teaching English Language Learners.
- TESOL certification preferred
- At least five years of experience teaching academic writing, writing in the disciplines and working in a writing centre
- Evidence of a strong teaching record and of strong student evaluations
- Knowledge of best pedagogical practices in a virtual learning environment
- Experience developing interactive learning materials and curricular workshops for in-person and online delivery
- Experience delivering presentations and facilitating interactive workshops to both small and large groups
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with faculty, staff, and members of the broader university community
- Publications preferred and expected as part of the job
