Cake Decorator/pastry Chef

Toronto, Canada Elite Bakery Full time

**Key Responsibilities**
- Responsible for creating and preparing desserts in accordance with existing menu
- Ensure compliance with food handling safety regulation, health and safety workplace policies and procedures
- Maintaining a high standard of personal hygiene & appearance is a must
- To complete all work in an orderly and timely fashion
- Actively participate in the development and creation of new pastries and deserts for seasonal releases
- Producing batters, fillings, pastries, dough's and custards
- Decorating (including Fondant work, piping, glazing, chocolate work, etc.)

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Minimum two years of pastry experience
- Minimum two years of baking experience
- Minimum two years of decorating experience
- Completion of related pastry culinary program
- Food Safe certification is an asset
- Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment
- Great attention to detail with a creative flair
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Must be energetic with a passion for food and a positive outlook
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
- Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism (i.e. punctuality, commitment to the job, well-groomed, mannerly, great team work etc.)
- Long periods of standing and walking is required
- Repetitive use of hands, dexterity, bending down
- Ability to problem solve creatively and calmly under pressure
- Positive attitude and a hunger for knowledge and growth
- Ability to work in an intense, fast passed environment
- Ability to build and nurture relationships with team members
- Must be flexible and able to work early mornings and on weekends/holidays

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
