Responsible to the Manager, Flight Standards this position is responsible to ensure Transport Canada and IATA compliance with authorization requirements for the 600+ destination and alternate airports contained on the Air Canada and Air Canada rouge Airport Classification List. The Flight Standards Manager will also provide full support with the day-to-day operations of the Flight Standards group. This includes ensuring compliance with core operational policies relating to company, industry, and regulatory standards. This position is operationally critical and responsible to ensure compliance of all regulations both in Canada and abroad as it relates to Airport regulatory approval. In addition, this position oversees the route approval process and ensures the applicable software/database remains secure and compliant in alignment with both company standards and regulatory requirements.

**Key Function & Accountabilities**:

- Manage all Airport Authorizations in the Air Canada system for Air Canada and applicable subsidiaries as it relates to regulatory compliance.
- Responsible to maintain and ensure software compliance and operational readiness to support flight operations.
- Manage and coordinate inter and intra branch approvals and authorizations related to the overall Airport Approval process.
- Responsible to author and maintain Flight Operations Airport Authorization Process Manual (FOAAM) which is the regulator approved document containing all airport authorization/ route authorization processes.
- Coordinate a 24/7 operational readiness requirement related to Airport Approval.
- Coordinate inter and intra branch working groups related to regulatory compliance related to Airport approval.
- Responsible to represent Air Canada during audits from regulators or IOSA as it relates to Airport Approval.
- Coordinate Day of Flight software feed requirements providing real time and/or regularly updated feed of data providing airport/route approvals to the operational software systems.
- Work collaboratively with various stakeholders across the organization; be responsible for documenting current and proposed process mappings and ensuring that the solutions resulting from the development meet various requirements. Assist with facilitating post-audit corrective action plans where process conformance or effectiveness is at issue.
- Determine process work priorities accounting for the balance of operational risks, inefficiencies and departmental /objectives.
- Gain and maintain relationships which are crucial to successfully improving processes throughout Flight Ops, Dispatch, Crew Planning/Scheduling, Network Planning and SOC.
- Actively liaison with Performance Engineering and Flight Support to ensure compliance in the maintenance of the Airport Classification list at specified intervals.
- Actively liaison with Performance Engineering during the Airport Authorization Process, either for new routes, or re-designation of routes between the Air Canada / Air Canada rouge or regional carriers to ensure compliance with all company and regulatory processes.
- Manage, create, and own Flight Standards internal processes to align with organizational and operational needs.
- Collaborate with Manager, Flight Standards to identify key metrics, activities, and initiatives that affect the business to identify opportunities for improvement, identification of Member value streams, assist with improvement plan development, implement revised work, and support progressive refinement of audit findings and opportunities.
- Manage the semi-annual revision to the Flight Operations Manual (FOM) in coordination with other Standards team members.
- Liaise and coordinate Standards Committee and Standards Pilot Meetings. Activities include booking venues for the meetings and maintaining the agenda, minute recording, and tracking SCM (Standards Committee Meeting) and SPM (Standards Pilot Meeting) initiatives.
- Responsible for management, review, and approval of Aircraft Technical Bulletins (ATBs).
- Update and maintain relevant quality & compliance policies and departmental procedures.
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining Corrective Action Plan (CAP)adherence to ensure meeting of timelines for internal and extrinsic audits and QA deficiencies/ issues. Coordinate with each team to ensure triggers are in place to ensure timelines are met. including potential involvement with process automation via Robotic Process Automation (RPA).

**Qualifications**
- University or college diploma required.
- Experience mapping cross-functional business processes and facilitating process mapping sessions.
- Business Process Management / Lean Concepts / Value Stream experience.
