Emergency Medical Care Inc. (EMC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Medavie Health Services (MHS) that manages and operates ground ambulance, air medical transport and the medical communications operations in Nova Scotia through a performance-based contract with the provincial government's Emergency Health Services (EHS) Operations division and the Department of Health and Wellness. As well, EMC operates TeleHealth/811 medical communications for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island for the Department of Health.

We access all communities in Nova Scotia in a timely and efficient manner with our fleet of more than 180 ambulances and support vehicles operating out of 60+ stations. We respond to 165,000+ calls annually across the province, which are actively managed through the EHS Operations Medical Communications Centre, the hub of all emergency (911) and non-emergency (hospital transfers) medical calls.

The EHS Operations LifeFlight program provides even greater accessibility by responding to patients on scene or through inter-facility transports by our critical care team via helicopter, fixed wing, or ground ambulance.

In addition, paramedics in Nova Scotia participate in various programs both urban and rural such as community-based paramedic programs, collaborative emergency centres, and emergency preparedness and special operations, to name a few.

Reporting to, and under the supervision of the Manager, Recruitment & Retention, the incumbent plays a key role within the team to research, analyze and interpret data that supports requests from internal and external stakeholders. The Business Analyst will also have accountability to the Finance team for ad hoc Workday reporting and will also support the Recruitment team with various projects and tasks as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- The position entails, but is not limited to the following:_
- Reporting & Analytics_
- Build, analyze and effectively communicate results of monthly, quarterly, annual and adhoc metric reporting for internal and external stakeholders (i.e. EHS). Provide reporting expertise and support to businesses regarding the development of HR metrics that drive forecasting capabilities and strategic insights (i.e. Turnover, Vacancy Rates, Recruitment Statistics)
- Responsible for creating a story from the data so that it paints a picture of current Human Health of the organization which can support decision making processes.
- Ensure data integrity, using HR databases, review information gathering processes, verify integrity of data and customize data extracts to meet information needs
- Subject matter expert on HRIS reporting and analytics within the Human Capital Management System - Workday, expert within Workday Recruitment as well providing support for troubleshooting and system fixes for the HR team.
- Provides Workday reporting support to EMCI Finance team
- Recruitment Support:_
- Accountable for the internal transfer process within Workday Recruitment ensuring effective recruitment, transfer and hiring methods, position requirements, policy and procedures, collective agreements and job postings are all met accordingly
- Participate in special projects and coordinates recruitment initiatives that support staffing efforts and ensuring alignment with the organization’s values, vision, and strategic objectives;

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

- Education / Experience:_
- Undergraduate degree in business and/or human resource management with some focused study on data analysis, or equivalent
- Minimum 3~5 years with experience in reporting/analytics and broad HR business knowledge
- Previous experience working in human resources preferred
- Knowledge & Skills:_
- Capacity to work with highly confidential information in a discreet manner supporting Privacy Legislation
- Experience with Human Capital Management System Workday is required
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
- Intermediate to advanced level of skill in Microsoft Excel (macros, pivot tables, graphs) to compile and interpret quantitative data
- Strong critical and analytical thinking. Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements, understand the impact of reporting results, analyze data and develop commentary, manage issues and resolve reporting roadblocks, perform comparative analyses, identify key/emerging trends and understand and use benchmarks
- Data mining and analysis, including knowledge of statistical testing and analysis, broad HR business knowledge. Uses specialized knowledge and understanding of trends to handle a variety of complex situations that often lead to policy, process and practice improv
