**Officer, Indigenous Engagement Platform - CRISM**:
**Primary Purpose**:In 2023, Canada’s national health research funder, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, announced funding to establish the Indigenous Engagement Platform to drive Indigenous community driven research and training for the Canadian Research Initiatives in Substance Misuse (CRISM). The IEP is funded for 5 years and works closely with the CRISM Coordinating Centre (CCC) to create and sustain supportive research environments driven by and grounded in Indigenous communities in Canada. The IEP provides support to the five CRISM Nodes, and facilitates national and international research collaborations and priorities with Indigenous community partners. The IEP is housed at the University of Saskatchewan, and will be aligned closely with the alongside the Saskatchewan NEIHR Network (fmhrn.ca).

The Officer will act as a resource and support for the IEP research and knowledge translation activities, primarily with Indigenous health research grant writing, publications on Indigenous health research, and supporting the evaluation of the IEP program undertaken through the CCC. You may also provide some support to the SK-NEIHR network and the NEIHR National Coordinating Centre when program values align. You will join a small, highly collaborative staff team.

**Nature of Work**: The Officer is accountable to Dr. Robert Henry, the nominated principal investigator. Additionally, there will be guidance from the IEP research leadership through the Nominated Principal Investigators, the CCC, and regional CRISM Nodes. You will be part of a core research staff team, who work collaboratively and are accountable to each other to support these research networks. The Manager will also work with the CCC to support national initiatives across the 5 CRISM Nodes.

This is a fast-paced work environment, and you will need to balance competing priorities and shifting timelines, and exercise judgment and discretion. The networks’ offices are located at on the second floor of Kirk Hall, with a swing office located at Station 20 West.

We follow the USask standard work hours, with some variability for evening and weekend work. The position will involve some travel. This position is professional or supervisory in nature and is therefore exempt from overtime.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:
Research work will be undertaken with the direction, guidance, and support of the NCC’s Executive Director, research leads and core staff team. You will be involved in a range of research tasks, which could include:

- Developing strong linkages with across the CRISM Nodes and Platforms, CCC staff, CIHR staff, and with university academic units, and non-academic organizations, including governments, tribal councils, and community-based organizations
- Research facilitation: identifying funding opportunities, seeking out and matching academics with community partners, assembling teams of academics and non-academics, and supporting them in grant proposal development and submission
- Conducting literature searches and syntheses to identify gaps and opportunities, and assist researchers in developing proposals
- Reviewing and editing research proposals and attachments, summaries and reports
- Developing and delivering training in grant proposal writing, research management, research communications, event planning and knowledge translation
- Assisting researchers in preparing academic articles, which could include: identifying journals; conducting literature reviews; summarizing literature; reviewing and editing drafts; assisting with referencing and formatting per journal submission criteria
- Writing and editing knowledge translation materials, such as: project summaries; online course materials; slide presentations; news articles; opinion pieces; and website copy
- Identifying ongoing research publicity opportunities, and writing and submitting profiles of researchers and research projects for publication
- Assisting with the coordination of National CRISM meetings with the guidance and support of the CCC and CRISM Nodes
- Provide support for Network research team members (academic and non-academic), in their roles as needed, contributing to the IEP’s success, and that of supporting Indigenous priorities across CRISM Nodes
- Other research duties as needed.

**Qualifications**
**Education**: Graduate degree is a strong asset, with a focus on Indigenous health is preferred. Consideration will be given to individuals with similar qualifications and experience. A proven track-record with research activities is essential.
