Overview:
We're seeking a dynamic Director of Communications who thrives when leading strategic communication initiatives. With your strong leadership and organizational skills, along with a keen eye for detail, you'll play a crucial role in executing and coordinating communication activities across various corporate divisions. English and French bilingualism is an asset. If you're passionate about crafting compelling narratives and building effective relationships, we want to hear from you.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, the Director, Communications executes, co-ordinates, and facilitates communications activities across all corporate divisions, including Communications and Stakeholder Engagement, Marketing, Destination Management, and Finance, Operations and Visitor Services.

The Director, Communications develops and implements strategic internal and external communications strategies and responses in support of new and ongoing initiatives and priorities, establishes performance indicators and reports on communications campaigns, strategies, and activities. This position is responsible for the production and design of marketing and promotional materials.

The Director, Communications supervises direct reports, including but not limited to performance management and career development, providing guidance and direction, monitoring performance, managing conflicts and resolving issues, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, setting goals and expectations, fostering teamwork and collaboration and leading by example.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develops communication strategies aligned with the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.
- Ensures consistent messaging across all communication channels.
- Leads the development and oversees the strategic implementation of the Communications strategy to advance Manitoba’s tourism brand.
- Manages crisis communication plans and responses as needed.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of communication strategies and adjusts as necessary to meet strategic objectives.
- Leads and motivates the Communications teams and monitors employee performance by conducting regular employee performance reviews.
- Provides strategic oversight and management of all Communications and Design projects.
- Develops, administers, and reports on budget expenditures for the team and ensures forecasting accuracy.
- Ensures the consistency of quality, branding, and messaging in all communication materials.
- Manages communication requirements for and contributes to the organization of media events and industry events, including Travel Manitoba conferences and webinars, Tourism Awards, and Annual General Meeting.
- Maintains and integrates corporate identity throughout all programs and materials in both English and French.
- Ensures delivery of high quality media relations functions, including proactive corporate media relations, production of media materials and responses to inquiries.
- Leads the coordination of news conferences, media briefings and interviews with Travel Manitoba leadership.
- Develops and manages media lines, speeches, briefings, Q & As, FAQs.
- Acts as Travel Manitoba spokesperson, when required.

**Requirements**:
**Knowledge**
- University degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum 8 years progressive experience in communications.
- Minimum of five years managerial or supervisory experience in the communications or public relations/affairs sector.
- English-French bilingualism and experience working in an environment producing materials in both English and French is preferred.
- Experience with print, electronic, broadcast, and social media.
- Intermediate knowledge/experience in the use of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong knowledge of digital technologies, Social Media channels, Applications, online channels.
- Public sector budget management and procurement knowledge/experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of Manitoba's tourism industry is an asset.
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's license.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
