**Who You Are**:
We’re looking for an entrepreneurial minded accounting leader who is a team player. You lead by example and enjoy engaging with others to help move the business forward.
- CPA Designation preferred (or equivalent experience) with 5+ years in senior accounting roles, ideally within high-growth or medium-sized businesses.
- Expertise in financial reporting (ASPE), consolidation, financial statements preparation, and note disclosures.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: You take a proactive approach to solving problems, identifying opportunities, and making decisions that drive business growth.
- Exceptional prioritization skills: You excel at managing multiple priorities and making decisions that support both short-term objectives and long-term strategic goals.
- Proven ability to mentor and guide a team.
- Comfortable using Sage 50 and Microsoft Office, with a focus on leveraging technology to improve financial processes.
- Strong communicator, capable of explaining financial concepts to non-financial team members and leadership.
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.

**Don’t want to be hands-on**: If you prefer to work exclusively in a high-level, purely strategic capacity and are not comfortable rolling up your sleeves to manage day-to-day operations and mentor staff, this is not the right role for you.
**Struggle with prioritization**: If you have difficulty managing multiple competing priorities or find it hard to balance short-term tasks with long-term strategic objectives, this role may not align with your strengths.
**Don’t work well with others**: We value the development of our staff and need a leader who can guide and support others with varying levels of technical expertise.
**Are not open to adopting new processes**: We are committed to continuous improvement and expect our leaders to embrace new tools and ways of working to increase efficiency.
**Roles & responsibilities**:
**Accounting Leadership**
- Lead the accounting function for the organization by contributing to business excellence, profitability, and long-term growth.
- Partner with the CEO and GM to advise on financial strategies, cash flow management, and identifying untapped business opportunities.
- Bring a strong entrepreneurial approach to financial decision-making, helping the business stay agile and competitive while maintaining financial discipline.
- Collaborate with department heads to turn accounting insights into business strategies, driving operational efficiency across the company.
- Implement performance benchmarks and best practices, always looking for ways to optimize processes and leverage technology for better results.
**Operational Excellence**
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, accounting transactions, reconciliations, and key financial metrics.
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations, ensuring all operations are compliant and efficient.
- Monitor project costs, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and ensure that financial strategies align with company objectives.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, track variances, and make adjustments as needed to stay on track.
- Coordinate annual corporate reporting and work with external accounting firm to ensure financial compliance and tax filings.
**Collaboration and Mentorship**
- Foster a collaborative, results-driven culture, ensuring that the team remains aligned with business objectives and prepared for changes.
- Provide ongoing training and support to help accounting staff improve their technical knowledge, confidence, and overall performance.
- Design a flexible and scalable team structure to meet the evolving needs of the business, with contingency plans for smooth transitions when necessary.
