3 weeks vacation per year

Day hour training shifts required for onboarding. Immediate start date.

As the largest provider of Emergency Shelter in the Niagara Region, the YWCA Niagara Region offers innovative housing programs and services that provide hope for womxn and their families living in poverty.

The YW will be operating Anti-Human Trafficking services for survivors of exploitation including emergency shelter.

To complement our Emergency Shelter program staffing component, the YW is looking for an exceptional team player, who is compassionate, non-judgmental, and self-motivated to round out the team.

The Full Time Team Advocate will report to the Director of Programs to assist in the operation of the Safer House in accordance with agency policies and procedures. Which includes the following duties; maintaining appropriate record keeping, complete intake/discharge forms, maintaining security for participants/staff/facilities, goal setting and referrals to other resources, promote co-operative living, participate in housekeeping duties including occasional food preparation and cleaning.

**Responsibilities**
- Provides appropriate professional understanding and intervention in response to emotional, behavioural, physical needs of participants
- Responsible for tracking and reporting on naloxone use at the YWCA with community partners and the Niagara Region
- To respond with Crisis Intervention in situations of physical confrontation, and medical and psychiatric emergencies for womxn who have recently experienced trauma
- Maintains and supervises established routines and procedures
- Completes intakes and discharges on a 24-hour basis
- Management and monitoring building to ensure safety; by Team Lead request completing building checks and searches
- Provides support to womxn through a trauma informed framework
- Assists womxn with establishing and achieving individualized goals
- Promote and engage womxn with life skills; assisting womxn with daily routines such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.
- Utilizes effective conflict resolution skills
- Maintain the participant files: participants binders, ROI’s and outside community agencies
- Participates in shift change procedures and staff meetings as required, shares information in a respectful, non-judgemental manner
- Exercises good judgement and discretion in dealing with confidential information
- Completes all necessary documentation, including written records/reports and provides statistics as requested
- Learn and understand health and safety standards, regulations, policies and procedures and comply with them
- Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and boundaries regarding participant information and the sanctuary and safety of Home for 6 womxn, staff and community partners

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum CYW, SSW, BA or equivalent, plus minimum one (1) years working experience with womxn and/or youth in a shelter or residential setting
- Experience working with human trafficking survivors considered an asset
- First Aid, CPR and Naloxone training, plus basic computer skills and a willingness to participate in on-going training
- NVCI or CPI, Mental Health First Aid and ASIST training considered an asset
- Vulnerable Screening Clearance (Police Check)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of community resources
- Demonstrate initiative, critical thinking and a self-directed working style
- Understanding and delivery of anti-oppressive, feminist, trauma informed frameworks.
- Knowledge of trauma informed care practices and needs of this specialized population of womxn
- Knowledge of adolescent development theory and specific issues related to at risk womxn

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $26.25 per hour
