The University of Toronto Libraries system is the largest academic library in Canada and is consistently ranked in the top ten among academic research libraries in North America. The system consists of 40 libraries located on three university campuses: St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough. **Your opportunity**:
Working under the supervision of the Director of Advancement, the Advancement Officer is responsible for administrative duties that support the areas of donor relations, advancement communications and prospective donor engagement in the University of Toronto Libraries’ activities in annual and major gifts. The Advancement Officer plans, develops and supports strong development and alumni relations activity through the planning of special events, programs, fundraising drives, recognitionactivities and various communication vehicles. Duties will include supporting on-going evaluation and enhancement of the Libraries’ donor recognition and stewardship activities, and implementation of best practices using a broad range of communications tools. These include the maintenance of the donor thank-you program; coordination of content development and distribution of the Libraries Advancement office’s donor newsletter; participation in digital content development; assisting with the maintenance of the Friends of the Fisher Library’s membership program; assistance with the coordination of the Friends of the Libraries lecture series; and recommendations for and implementation of social media opportunities in the advancement context. Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Director, the incumbent will provide support to the Leadership Annual Giving Program and provides front line support for prospective gift in kind donors who make inquires related to donations and directing those inquiries in an appropriate and efficient manner.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Handling sensitive and/or confidential information
- Conceptualizing, organizing and executing donor event activities in order to maintain ongoing relationship with Library donors
- Collecting basic development-related information, such as tracking alumni and donor engagement in a range of activities
- Overseeing tasks related to the production and dissemination of communications/marketing materials that support fundraising campaigns and programs
- Determining logístical details required for donor mailing campaigns
- Generating reports
- Monitoring accounts for a project and/or program related to prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years' related experience in communications or donor development, preferably in a post-secondary educational setting or generally within the not-for-profit sector.
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and to use sound judgment, tact, and discretion in the performance of job duties
- Detail oriented and follows through with a high level of accuracy in maintaining donor contact information and outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with competing deadlines
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent computer skills - MS Office, and familiarity with customer relation management databases
- Demonstrated writing skills as well as familiarity with project management for communications initiatives and advancement initiatives
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and highly receptive to working independently while operating collaboratively within the Advancement office’s closely-knit team and with the overall leadership of the University Libraries
