Hippy Program Coordinator

Alberta Immigrant Women & Children Centre (AIWCC) is a registered charitable organization in Edmonton, Alberta. We assist and support women and children in need, particularly focusing on the specific concerns of immigrant and refugee women and their families.
**About the HIPPY Program**
The Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) Program engages families with children aged 3 to 5 years in early childhood literacy and school readiness. This early childhood enrichment program collaborates with parents, particularly from isolated and disadvantaged newcomer communities. Using a peer education model, HIPPY delivers structured one-on-one home visits and regular events to equip parents with the skills, resources, and materials needed to prepare their children for school and ease their transition into the school environment.
**Responsibilities**:
**1.Program Implementation**:
- Deliver the HIPPY program in alignment with contractual terms and organizational standards.
- Use best practices and innovative approaches to ensure the program is responsive and effective.
**2.Recruitment and Supervision**:
- Support in the recruitment and selection of eligible families and Home Visitors for the HIPPY program.
- Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and training for Home Visitors.
- Develop and execute staff development plans as needed.
**3.Program Coordination**:
- Facilitate weekly training and enrichment sessions for Home Visitors.
- Plan and host monthly group meetings, including role-playing activities.
- Ensure weekly home visits and regular HIPPY events are timely and well-organized.
- Organize the annual HIPPY graduation ceremony.
**4.Administration and Reporting**:
- Maintain accurate records of HIPPY delivery visits, statistical data, and reporting requirements.
- Enter compliance data into the ETO Online Data Management System as well as into the organizational data portal.
- Establish and maintain effective administrative systems.
- Submit required data and reports within specified timelines.
**5.Partnership Development**:
- Build strong connections with human service organizations to ensure quality service delivery to participating families.
**6.Research and Evaluation**:
- Participate in program reviews, planning visits, and research projects as required.
- Continuously review and evaluate program effectiveness using a continuous improvement approach.
**7.Team Leadership**:
- Recruit, train, and support Home Visitors to deliver the program effectively.
- Build capacity within Home Visitors to support long-term career growth.
- Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to the team.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
**8.Additional Duties**:
- Attend mandatory training and meetings.
- Collaborate with the Director of Programs & Services to ensure program success.
**Educational Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary degree in early childhood education, elementary education, family or adult education, social work, or a related field.
**Other Qualifications**:
- Strong training, leadership, and team management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Deep understanding of and sensitivity to the unique needs and experiences of immigrant and refugee families.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Experience in educational administration, community mobilization, parent empowerment, family support, child/family advocacy, or staff development is an asset.
- Experience working directly with vulnerable families and newcomer families is required.
- Willingness to work collaboratively in a supportive and empowering environment.
**Additional Requirements**:
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Clear criminal records check and child intervention check.
Pay: $30.00-$34.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
