**Salary**:($3,548.95 to $4,842.27 bi-weekly ($92,627- $126,383 per year)

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation is responsible for enabling Alberta’s agriculture and food sectors to flourish. From food safety and investment to supporting rural Alberta, we work to enhance Alberta's agriculture industry's resilience and innovation. This role is based in the Natural Resource Innovation Section, which oversees critical initiatives such as water management, land resource stewardship, and sustainable irrigation practices.

**Role Responsibilities**:

In this role, you will:

- **Shape the future of water and land resource management**: You’ll lead a talented team responsible for developing cutting-edge policies that improve irrigation practices, water use efficiency, and environmental stewardship across Alberta.
- **Lead a high-performing team**: You will manage and mentor staff located in Lethbridge, Edmonton, and Brooks, guiding them to implement strategic initiatives that directly impact the agriculture sector’s resilience and growth.
- **Foster collaboration and innovation**: Working closely with industry partners, government agencies, and research institutions, you’ll champion innovative technologies and practices that increase on-farm productivity and water use

efficiency.
- **Drive economic and environmental impact**: By leading programs like the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership Water Program, you’ll contribute to Alberta’s long-term agricultural success, ensuring our farmers are equipped to

thrive in a changing environment.
- **Influence provincial policy**: You’ll be a key player in shaping Alberta’s agricultural policies, aligning them with broader government objectives and ensuring the province remains at the forefront of sustainable agriculture practices.

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Recruitment Standard**:

- Education: University graduation (4 years) in Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Experience: Five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in natural resource management,, or a related sector.
- Equivalencies: Directly related experience or education considered on a one-for-one basis.

**Additional Requirements**:

- Proven leadership in environmental policy development and program management.
- Strong understanding of water resource management, agricultural sustainability, and irrigation practices.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including government and industry stakeholders.
- Class 5 drivers License

**Assets**:

- Eligibility for membership in AIA or equivalent
- Experience working within the Alberta public sector or a similar governmental environment.
