**A Day in the Life**

**As the Technical Analyst, Psychology, you will**:

- Provide first line technical support for the complex and growing research programs in the department;
- Perform analysis, diagnosis, documentation, and resolution of complex IT system problems to ensure effective research, teaching, and administration;
- Recommend and procure technical equipment as needed by researchers, ensuring hardware and/or software compatibility in collaboration with ITS;
- Liaise with ITS to collaboratively resolve incidents, service requests and create efficiencies, while enforcing ITS security policies and promoting ITS best practices within the department;
- Develop a working knowledge of the technical equipment in experimental psychology to enable a supportive role and liaise with ITS to ensure there is a backup for all the services provided;
- Design and implement tools for data acquisition and secure storage (e.g., servers) to ensure confidentiality in collaboration with ITS;
- Identify tools to optimize data collection and analysis and communicate this to the department;
- Record all problems, service requests, change requests, incidents in the ITS ticketing system, and update the knowledge base when appropriate;
- Utilize system management tools to inventory, monitor, patch, and update supported software, systems and servers;
- Maintain and upgrade the SONA system, individual lab WEB pages, facilitate development of digital marketing materials and software programs and system tools in collaboration with ITS;
- Provide local and remote technical support to the department; and
- Research emerging technologies to streamline IT efficiencies in the department pertaining to research.

**Overtime and irregular hours are required throughout the year, including weekends and holidays, to maintain and upgrade portfolio accountabilities with the least disruption to clients.**

**What you need to Succeed**
- Completion of an Honours Bachelor’s Degree with a preference of study in Psychology or Computer Science;
- 4+ years of work experience in a related field, including experience working in an empirical research setting, demonstrated interest in experimental psychology, and progressive computing technical support experience;
- Experience working in an educational or government organization is preferred;
- Knowledge of empirical research and experimental design in Psychology and research skills in both quantitative and qualitative forms;
- Advanced knowledge of computer hardware, software, servers, networks, systems and configuration management, active directory, software installation, and Microsoft Exchange;
- Working knowledge of the technical equipment used in experimental psychology, and data collection and analysis tools;
- Demonstrated knowledge of confidentiality practices and policies;
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills and diplomatic and tactful when interacting with irate or upset clients;
- A team player with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, and build positive, productive professional relationships;
- Attention to detail, self-motivated and directed, with the demonstrated ability to multitask and effectively manage multiple and competing deadlines/projects;
- Ability to analyze technology alternatives, troubleshoot, and synthesize knowledge and information from various sources to provide appropriate solutions;
- Ability to devise guidelines regarding technical issues for various clients; and
- Ability to track, make recommendations for improvement and implement improvements in IT technology and existing systems.

**Preferred or Asset Skills**:

- ITIL Foundation certification;
- Microsoft Certification;
- Apple Certification.

**Salary and Benefit Information**
- Job Grade L, Salary Scale ($57,518 - $78,479),
- This position includes full comprehensive benefits coverage and tuition waiver.

**Salary**: $57,518.00-$78,479.00 per year
