We are looking for adaptable, self-motivated students who are excellent working both individually, as well as in a team to join us. We need you to be able to build and maintain strong relationships with both your colleagues and external clients through excellent verbal and written communication. A strong attention to detail is essential, as well as having a methodical approach to problem solving. We will expect you to draw on your university and employment experiences to manage your time effectively and to meet deadlines. This is a minimum 3-month co-op position based out of our Vancouver, BC office. This position will starting during the winter co-op season starting in January. and will extend into the summer co-op season.

As a co-op student, your responsibilities may include:

- An introduction to conceptual, preliminary and detailed design An introduction to site inspection, investigations and monitoring
- Support designers and engineers in research, design, calculation, and preparation of technical reports, specifications and studies
- Preparing conceptual and detailed AutoCAD and Civil3D design drawings for rail & transit or civil engineering design
- Technical writing and communications
- Project support and administration

- To be considered for this co-op position, you will currently be working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Structural engineering, focusing on design of buildings. You should be able to demonstrate your interest in your chosen sector through relevant experience, such as studying relevant modules or previous work experience. You’ll also have:

- A methodical approach to problem solving
- Prior relevant internships, co-ops or practical work-experience preferred
- An ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
- Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members
- Excellent written communication and attention to detail and ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and write accurate reports
- Knowledge of Grasshopper or other visual programming tools is an asset
- Working experience in structural design of reinforced concrete is an asset
- Knowledge of coding in C# or Python is an asset (specifically building Grasshopper custom components)
