**Job Summary**

Dr. Adamo’s research team is looking for a full-time Research Associate/Coordinator, for a 24-month term (with the possibility of extension) to work within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team. The Research Associate/Coordinator will function as a coordinator/manager for the day-to-day operations of several research projects (and the lab), related to the PLACENTA study, the first of its kind to take a comprehensive look at the role of physical activity during pregnancy in regulating placenta biology (e.g., gene expression and metabolic function in the placenta). Excellent communication and organizational skills are critical to this position. Prior experience in trials and formal project management training would be a strong asset.

**Responsibilities and Duties**

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:

- Responsible for the overall management of the multiple aspects of the PLACENTA project and any satellite projects that are under its umbrella including communication with partner sites, budget and finance, protocol, changes, interactions with REB and legal.
- Responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the wet lab
- Facilitating safety training/retraining for lab users to include but not be limited to: equipment training, safety training, and lab safety plan reviews, and ensure the documentation of training
- Responsible for the ongoing data collection and management of the trials, including maintenance of study databases.
- Maintain communications with the principal investigator, and extended team, including managing research assistants/students working on the project.
- Assist in preparing standard operating protocols, grant proposals, manuscripts, and submitting required documents to Research Ethics Board (REB) and regulatory authorities.
- Assist in the direct supervision of students
- Perform laboratory experiments as necessary to ensure continuity of ongoing projects

Flexibility is a necessity in research and we expect our research coordinators and associated staff to be malleable in order to accommodate research participants whenever possible.

**Qualifications and Skills**

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**ESSENTIAL**
- *Recent PhD (preferred) or a minimum of master’s degree plus relevant working experience in the Natural (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology) and/or Health Sciences (e.g. Biomedicine, Nursing, Midwifery).
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate scientific and technical concepts in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing
- Strong organizational, administrative, problem solving, time-management, and decision-making skills with the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, establish priorities, and work within a budget.
- Experience in working with patients/participants in a research setting
- Demonstrated experience in designing, modifying, and/or optimizing scientific wet/basic science laboratory experiments.
- Strong/Expert knowledge in one or more of the following: cell culture, tissue sampling processes, systems biology, imaging, molecular and analytical techniques
- Advanced knowledge of laboratory tools, equipment, instruments, materials, hazards and their safe usage
- Experience in supervision and evaluation of personnel.
- Evidence of training certification in Tri-Council Policy Statement-2 (TCPS-2) and the International Council on Harmonisation - Good Clinical Practice Guidelines (ICH-GCP).

**PREFERRED**
- Knowledge of the principles of laboratory analytical techniques including the operation of laboratory equipment.
- Experience in working with patients/participants (pregnant individuals would be ideal) in a research setting
- Knowledge of tissue sampling processes and/or systems biology
- Knowledge of -omics biology/bioinformatics
- Knowledge of Tri-Council funding online platforms (e.g., ResearchNet, Common CV)
- Bilingual (French and English)

Pay: $61,800.00-$75,200.00 per year
