Energy Manager

Warrington PCI Management is the largest commercial property managers in BC. The company manages approximately 18 million sq ft of retail, office, industrial, multi-family and marine properties throughout the Lower Mainland.
The Primary Purpose of Energy Manager:
The primary purpose of the position of Energy Manager is to work with the Vice President, Sustainability to develop and implement programs and strategies to reduce energy use and GHG emissions throughout WPMs managed portfolio.
The Energy Manager will lead the technical aspects of the company’s sustainability initiatives and establish standardized procedures to benchmark, track and report on the company’s progress toward Net Zero.
The Energy Manager will work with all internal and external stakeholder groups to build the business case for decarbonization, ensuring that the buildings we manage meet or exceed energy reduction targets while maximizing the return on and value of our clients’ real estate assents.
**Responsibilities**
The responsibilities of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following:
**Energy and Sustainability**
- Serve as WPM’s technical sustainability expert and authority on reporting and regulatory requirements
- Track, monitor, and assess the portfolio-wide energy and water usage
- Create and oversee WPM’s corporate Strategic Energy Management Plan
- Conduct energy audits, water audits, evaluations, cost analyses, equipment replacement and retrofit assessments to reduce energy consumption and emissions for assets across client portfolios
- Coordinate with the VP Sustainability and Project Management Team to oversee energy and carbon reduction projects and related capital plans
- Collaborate with the VP Sustainability, Property Managers and Building Operators to identify and implement low and no-cost energy and water conservation measures
- Oversee measurement and verification and re-commissioning projects
- Report on portfolio-wide energy use (ex. GRESB, BOMA BEST, City of Vancouver, Annual WPM Sustainability Report, etc.)
- Drive energy efficiency projects (optimization of existing systems)
- Keep up to date on new technologies, from smart buildings to carbon capture and renewable energy
- Frame energy efficiency activities in terms of asset value, cost savings and environmental performance
**Strategic Planning**
- Assist in developing, communicating, and implementing strategic WPM energy conservation policies
- Collaborate with other internal departments to improve efficiency and standardization of energy reporting
- Assist in the development of new business including assisting in onboarding new clients and buildings
- Analyze the property management portfolio energy use based on property class, type and management requirements
- Review and implement energy management-related software to improve efficiencies
- Work with consultants to develop the overall decarbonization roadmap for the company and managed portfolio
- Identify emerging sustainability trends and developments and translate those into actionable initiatives within the company, property management and operations teams
- Work with the VP Sustainability to draft and deliver internal and external communications regarding sustainability initiatives and reporting to clients, industry partnerships and organizations
**Team and Stakeholder Management**

- Collaborate with internal and external members of the WPM team on strategic initiatives which will include clients, tenants, vendors, contractors, accounting, operations and administrative staff.
- Assist the VP Sustainability in building strong working relationships with owners and tenants through regular communication and meetings.

- Lead and mentor property managers, property administrators and building operators in sustainability initiatives.
- Assist in developing and coordinating training programs for property managers and building operators.
**BC Hydro Training **(this may be adjusted as required)
- Successful completion and upgrades for the following BC Hydro specific training as required for the role of Energy Manager:
- Energy Manager 101 should be done within the first month of start date
- Energy Manager Fundamentals Training should be done in the first year of employment (may take longer if start date is part way through BC Hydro’s fiscal year)
- Energy Manager Webinars and site tours as appropriate
- BC Hydro Energy Manager Forum Workshops (twice per year)
- Sector Energy Manager Workshop (once per year)
Other duties and projects as required.
