Upper Canada Child Care is recruiting for a **Permanent Facilities Technician** to work at our **Head Office **in **Markham, ON.**

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position.

**Annual Salary: $50,972-$57,506** _plus_ full-time benefit package (including dental, health and travel insurance), 10 paid personal days, paid vacation time & company provided RRSP program.

Performs repairs and maintenance work on equipment, buildings, and grounds for all childcare and office locations. Delivers products and equipment to centres as required. Supports the organization’s vision, mission, and guiding values.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Performs ongoing preventative maintenance tasks and repair work on appliances and equipment at childcare centres and facilities.
- Establishes connections and maintains positive relationships with various stakeholders (ie; school personnel, centre employees, contractors, etc.).
- Performs all necessary set-up and installation tasks required on equipment.
- Regular and seasonal playground repairs and maintenance.
- Orders, delivers, and ensures proper set-up of major appliances.
- Adheres to health and safety guidelines and uses protective/safety equipment, as required by government and company regulations.
- Conducts vehicle inspections on a weekly basis.
- Delivers and picks up program supplies and other equipment.
- Assists with the tracking and monitoring of inventory, parts, and preventative maintenance data. Follows through as needed.
- Completes minor plumbing tasks, drywall repairs, millwork, and seasonal tasks as required (i.e.. carpet installation, AC unit installation, etc.)
- Participates in project planning in conjunction with Facilities Coordinator.
- Acts as back up to Facilities Coordinator ensuring urgent maintenance is taken care of in a timely manner. Provides 24-hour on-call service in case of emergencies.
- Operates forklift when required.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS**
- High school diploma or equivalency; related courses an asset.
- Minimum of two-years hands on experience in repairs and maintenance.
- Demonstrated competency in the proper use of hand tools and machinery, and related troubleshooting.
- Experience in, or knowledge of, licensed childcare as asset.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (drivers abstract may be requested in the case of company vehicle use).
- Forklift Training Certification (training may be provided upon successful hire).
- A recent Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and take initiative while working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service mindset.
- Basic computer literacy; including Microsoft 365.
