The Financial Administrator carries out a variety of financial activities (e.g. processing accounts payable, contract budgets, contract value). Supporting the Team Lead, Contract Financials and Manager, Accounting, the incumbent processes progress payments to contractors, records project and contract budgets and expenditures, processes payments, prepares financial reports, and assists with year-end activities.

**KEY AND PERIODIC ACTIVITIES**

**The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative but not all-inclusive**:
**Primary**
- Process daily payment batches, investigate rejected claims and resolve issues to ensure successful transmission to Client-Partner
- Maintain the enterprise resource planning commitment management module
- Maintain project budgets and transfer of funds, ensuring appropriate allocation of project expenditures based on Client-Partner instructions
- Participate in corporate initiatives, as required
- Respond to inquiries about financial processes (e.g. accounts payable, billing, invoices)
- Monitor and troubleshoot service issues within assigned areas of responsibility
- Assist with year-end activities
- Act as backup to other financial administrators
- Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate and Client-Partner expectations
- Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC and Client-Partners

**Other**
- Participate in process improvement
- Provide administrative support to other Finance department teams
- Act as webmaster for Finance department
- Other duties as assigned

**SKILLS**

**General and Specific Knowledge**
- Finance and accounting principles
- Experience in Accounts Payable
- Experience with Purchase Orders (preferred)

**Formal Education and/or Certification(s) and Experience**
- **Minimum**: college diploma in accounting or related field with four years’ relevant experience, or the equivalent

**Abilities**
- Use applicable computer software and operating systems (MS Excel, PDF, Oracle & SAP)
- Perform repetitive data entry with high level of precision
- Adhere to strict deadline
- Demonstrate attention to detail

**DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP**
- Provide functional advice and guidance to employees

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Typical office environment with occasional travel

To begin a career with Defence Construction Canada (DCC), you must be a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. As a condition of employment with DCC, a minimum reliability security status clearance is required and some roles may require secret security status clearance.
- DCC is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process_. Typically to be eligible for a "Reliability" clearance, you must have five years of verifiable background information and to be eligible for a "Secret" clearance, you must have 10 years of verifiable background information. The process usually involves reference inquiries, verification of qualifications, criminal records checks, and credit checks (as required) and may require fingerprints.
