**What you will do**

You will be responsible for the day-to-day tactical activities of the Nisku team, coaching and mentoring and providing regular updates to the North American Procurement Manager (NA PM) while carrying out the vision and aligning the Nisku team with the larger North American team.

**How you will do it**
- Perform and complete purchases for all areas of the Business; Operations, Corporate and Asset Management of direct charge and inventory items including: consumables, job specific purchasing (electrical, mechanical, steel items)
- Supervise a team of purchasers including, allocation of duties, coaching and mentoring, developing and managing team’s tactical skill set, updating Associate Director, Commercial Operations as applicable.
- Perform highly complex purchasing procedures in the acquisition of goods and services from a variety of vendors
- Review requisitions for completeness, accuracy, cost effectiveness, and adherence to standards.
- Administer and maintain an effective expediting program to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Determine vendors from which purchases will be made and issue purchase orders.
- Management of the purchase order process for financial accuracy and timeliness of ensuring supply and services meet requirements, holdback and payment terms are properly set up and tracked to the proper accounts.
- Act as liaison with supplier and business unit representatives to ensure goods and services meet quality standards and on time delivery (Quality, Manufacturing, Inventory).
- Provide timely communication on issues that could result in manufacturing or service delays or interruptions. Escalate as appropriate to Associate Director, Commercial Operations.
- Lead team in and participates in planning for acquisition of goods and services. Work with Associate Director, Commercial Operations on company needs and provide forecasting for Edmonton and North American-wide requirements.
- Monitor progress and status of assigned commodities, ensuring on-time delivery for self and the team while updating and involving the Associate Director, Commercial Operations on a weekly basis or as required.
- Resolve or refer questions or complaints from all departments, escalating to Associate Director, Commercial Operations.
- Review, investigate, and cooperate with all business areas to resolve outstanding invoices.
- Effectively communicate and interface with all areas of business and deliver a high standard of internal customer service (Procurement, Warehousing, Finance, Shared Services, Asset Management and Operations), process changes, analysis of issues, investigation and issue resolution and in conjunction with the Associate Director, Commercial Operations provide direction for improvements.
- Responsible for the day-to-day tactical activities of the team updating the Associate Director, Commercial Operations weekly or as required.
- Motivate and encourage the team on day-to-day workload and tasks.
- Distribute information to team members as given by Associate Director, Commercial Operations, or local management.
- Participate in strategy meetings and global company calls and communicate the strategic direction.
- Keep track of and structure daily tasks, employees, and documents.
- Actively participate in decision making at site level on day-to-day tasks with guidance or input from Associate Director, Commercial Operations as applicable.
- Conflict resolution - departmental/inter-departmental escalate to Associate Director, Commercial Operations weekly or as required.
- Communicate a task or project to team members as assigned by Associate Director, Commercial Operations or local management.
- Delegate tasks to the team based on knowledge of the team's strengths and in coordination with Associate Director, Commercial Operations.
- Track and report progress ensuring departmental deadlines and KPIs are met - update Associate Director, Commercial Operations weekly
- Assist in identifying vendor performance requirements. Assist with reviewing the performance capability of vendors and evaluates goods and services in conjunction with Associate Director, Commercial Operations.
- Interview and select new hires for the department in consultation with Associate Director, Commercial Operations.
- Lead on-the-job training of new employees in accordance with company processes/procedures and in consultation with Associate Director, Commercial Operations.
- Ownership of new hire orientation including introductions and onboarding.
- Performance appraisals and performance management of the purchasing team, in consultation with Associate Director, Commercial Operations.
- Team development plans, career path and growth.
- Process improvements and Process expertise for the buyers.
- Assist with and roll out purchasing policies and procedures.

- Achieved or undergoing professional education - CCP/ CPPM/ CPPC or other certifications
- 10+ years purchasing experience
