- Dr. Ingrid Waldron, Professor and HOPE Chair in Peace and Health in the Global Peace and Social Justice Program in the Faculty of Humanities at McMaster University, requires a _**_Post-Doctoral Fellow of African descen_**_t to take on the role of Research Coordinator from July 1, 2023 - November 30, 2024 for a new study titled _**_Improving Access to Mental Health Services Among Black Youth in Hamilton, Ontario. _**
- The study is being funded by the Medavie Health Foundation, the Echo Foundation, the Balsam Foundation, and a _Strategic Excellence and Equity in Recruitment and Retention (STEER/R) Grant._
**DUTIES**:
- Coordinate Dr. Waldron’s efforts to build relationships with the city’s Black-led community organizations, as well as Indigenous, immigrant, and health organizations in Hamilton and Ontario, more broadly.
- Collaborate with members of community groups, including Dr. Waldron’s lead partner organization, Empowerment Squared, to support their community-led work on this study.
- Conduct participant interviews.
- Mentor and supervise the two Graduate Research Assistants.
- Attend community events and conferences to present preliminary and final study results.
- Help transcribe interview data.
- Conduct coding and data analysis (using NVivo, Deduce or another software package, etc.).
- Prepare presentations to share study results with community members and at academic conferences and other events.
- Help to write the final study report and journal articles.
- Support other knowledge translation and knowledge mobilization activities.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Applicants must be of African ancestry residing in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a research coordinator or research assistant in a university setting.
- Experience with qualitative data analysis (using NVivo etc.)
- Experience transcribing data.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent planning, organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
- High regard for quality and attention to detail.
