An exciting opportunity exists for a Volunteer and Student Experience Coordinator for the McCormick Care Group, based in London, Ontario. The McCormick Care Group owns and operates McCormick Home, a long-term care home for seniors; McCormick Dementia Services, a program that serves individuals living with dementia and their families; and McCormick Dementia Research. It employs 100 full time and 150 part time employees.

The Volunteer and Student Experience Coordinator is responsible for facilitating an exceptional experience for volunteers and students by collaborating with managers, staff, volunteers, and academic institutions to identify opportunities to improve the Volunteer and Student Placement Programs, to create a meaningful volunteer and student opportunity based on McCormick Care Group's needs. Implementing Volunteer Management best-practices, this Coordinator will attract volunteers who are interested in supporting people living with dementia, provide education and coaching, develop meaningful volunteer roles, evaluate the volunteer program and coordinate recognition events The Coordinator will also ensure students have educational and practical opportunities designed to achieve their learning objectives in a supportive, safe environment. Students are important to McCormick’s research and recruiting initiatives. This Coordinator will ensure appropriate orientation, coaching and evaluation is conducted.

This position reports to the Administrator of the McCormick Care Group and will work closely with the Director of Dementia Services, and members of the management team.

The Volunteer and Student Experience Coordinator is responsible for supporting management teams to comply with all policies and procedures of the organization, to create a safe environment for all residents/clients/visitors, and to maintain compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act, the Code of Conduct and the Mission, Vision and Values of the McCormick Care Group.

**Background/Qualifications**:

- University degree, College diploma and/or Professional Development Certificate in a related field.
- Minimum of three years Volunteer Management and/or Student Placement Coordination experience in health care, social services or higher education setting.
- Knowledgeable about Volunteer Program best practices and demonstrated commitment to keeping current on trends impacting volunteer involvement.
- Experience using effective program planning, volunteer recruitment, retention and recognition strategies.
- Experience using effective student placement practices including building relationships with university and college personnel.
- Ability to develop and implement volunteer and student orientation, training, feedback and coaching using adult education principles.
- Skilled at collaborating with managers, staff, volunteers and academic institutions to identify opportunities to improve the Volunteer and Student Placement Programs, and create meaningful volunteer and student opportunities based on McCormick’s needs.
- Willingness to build on existing program strengths, as well as try creative new approaches.
- Strong skills in two-way communication, marketing, public speaking, project management, negotiation, enabling technologies, time management and program evaluation.
- Attention to detail and ability to adapt to the requirements of various academic partners.
- A current, clear, police record check with vulnerable sector clearance.

The current salary range for the position is $50,000 to $60,000 a year. This full-time position includes group health and dental benefits and membership in the Hospital of Ontario Pension Plan.
