Climate Resilience Professional

Binnie is looking for a Climate Resilience Professional to join our expanding Climate Resiliency Team. Our team works closely with other departments at Binnie including our Transportation Design Group working on large infrastructure projects across BC and our Development & Infrastructure Group working on municipal works and private developments and our Landscape Architect Group working on parks and open spaces. We are looking for a dedicated professional who wants to help design and build climate resilient and sustainable infrastructure across the province in the face of current and oncoming climate change.

rnaby office near scenic Deer Lake, you will work with our Binnie team and technical specialists from other firms to provide climate analysis, risk assessments, and help propose climate resilient design options and on various infrastructure projects. This is a challenging role that offers great development opportunities working with a range of infrastructure from private developments to large-scale provincial transportation infrastructure.
**YOUR ROLE**:
- Providing technical support and climate change data for design of various infrastructure
- Performing or assisting with climate change risk assessments following the PIEVC protocol or other industry accepted practices
- Providing support in the development of business cases for climate change resilience projects
- Staying up-to-date on current climate science, projections, and best practices
- Carrying out or supervising the preparation of climate data and technical reports
- Facilitating workshops and technical presentations to clients and stakeholders
- Ensuring quality control procedures are completed as per Binnie’s Organizational Quality Management Policy (OQM)
**WHAT YOU BRING**:
- 3-5 years of progressive professional experience in climate change adaptation and climate science
- Bachelor’s degree or graduate education in meteorology, atmospheric or environmental science, environmental management, urban planning, environmental engineering, or related field.
- Infrastructure Resilience Professional (IRP) Credential through Climate Risk Institute is considered an asset
- Experience in performing PIEVC or similar climate risk assessments
- Experience with facilitating climate risk workshops including workgroup facilitation, survey development and data collection and visualization.
- Knowledge of GIS considered an asset
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Ability to work independently or cooperatively in a team environment
