Capturing Health and Resilience Trajectories

**FUNCTION**
The Capturing Health and Resilience Trajectories (CHART) Labat Simon Fraser University is directed by Dr. Hasina Samji. Dr. Samji is an epidemiologist, having completed her PhD at John Hopkins University, and a Senior Scientist in Well-being at the BC Centre for Disease Control. The CHART Lab implements the Youth Development Instrument (YDI), a population-level survey completed by secondary school students about their health and well-being across five dimensions: _physical and mental well-being_, _social well-being_, _learning environment and engagement_, _social and emotional development_, and _navigating the world_. The CHART Lab is an interdisciplinary team consisting of researchers and practitioners in mental health, child and youth development, education, and public health. The CHART Lab is informed by a Youth Advisory Council made up of 25 young people from across BC ages 15 to 19, and an intersectoral Provincial Advisory Board, which consists of community partners and policymakers from education, healthcare, and government sectors. The CHART Lab mandate is to promote youth well-being through collaboration with schools and communities and informing policies that impact adolescents.
The **Project Manager **will be responsible for supporting the Research Coordinator and Implementation Coordinator with administrative tasks and overseeing research projects that focus on youth health and well-being. They will also have the opportunity to work on research manuscripts, presentations, and knowledge mobilization. The Project Manager will work together with the YDI Youth Advisory Council, a group of 25 adolescents from across BC engaged in building awareness, advocacy, and research related to youth health and well-being.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Organizing projects, tracking progress, setting and meeting project deadlines
- Creating and managing project budgets
- Overseeing project staff in coordination with CHART Lab Director and Research Coordinator
- Creating knowledge mobilization products such as presentation slides, conference posters, and infographics using CANVA software
- Developing reports
- Coordinating meetings and events with intersectoral community partners
**WORKING RELATIONSHIPS**
- This position reports directly to the CHART Lab Director and Research Coordinator. Among others, the incumbent will interact with superintendents, faculty, and staff from school districts as well as faculty and staff at the BC Centre for Disease Control, Simon Fraser University, and the Human Early Learning Partnership at UBC. They will also interact with external research partners in the health, education, and social services sectors.
**WORK PERFORMED**
**Managing Research Projects**
- Organizing and manage projects, including administrative tasks, such as creating and monitoring budgets and timelines, tracking project progress, and meeting deadlines for deliverables
- Coordinating, guiding, and working collaboratively with project staff and other CHART Lab members and associates
- Supporting data linkage with PopDataBC
- Overseeing onboarding of new staff members and staff appointments renewals
- Conducting literature reviews for reports and manuscripts
- Copyediting reports and presentations
- Working responsibly with confidential information
**Liaising with school and community partners**
- Liaising with research partners to plan and implement projects
- Presenting project findings through presentations to schools and community partners and at research conferences
**Visualizing data**
- Creating infographics, conference posters, and presentation slides to disseminate project findings
**Manuscript Writing**
- Creating academic articles based on projects for peer-reviewed journals
**DECISION-MAKING/LEVEL OF ACCOUNTABILITY**
- This person in this position will assist the PI and the CHART Lab Coordinator to effectively implement research projects and disseminate findings. This person makes professional decisions and recommendations on all aspects of the project. Errors or incorrect work or decisions as a result of incompleteness, missed deadlines, lack of attention to details etc., will lead to confusion, lost opportunities and a poor impression of the project team and associated institutions.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Works mostly remotely; space also available in an individual workstation in a shared office space in the Faculty of Health Sciences, Simon Fraser University. Office space has overhead fluorescent lighting, and task lighting. While the position is mostly remote, there are occasional in-person meetings so the applicant must be located in the lower mainland/in BC.
