**The Theatre Sarnia Youth Engagement Program provides live arts, education and community outreach opportunities to the children and citizens of Sarnia-Lambton. The program includes three major aspects: youth programs, school matinees, and workshops along with visiting artists providing master classes, lectures, and special community events.**

The Youth Engagement and Education Coordinator is to manage and administrate programs and operations for the three main aspects (Youth Program, Matinees, Workshops), along with other activities. The coordinator will take the lead in developing arts, education/learning programs, and outreach initiatives with the goal to enrich Theatre Sarnia with a focus on its young members. Additional goals include an increase in the public’s awareness and the appreciation of the performing arts and with the objective to engage the diverse audiences to participate and attend programming at the Imperial Theatre.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage, administrate and assure smooth operation of the youth programs in alignment to the goals and objectives of Theatre Sarnia’s strategic plan.
- Develop a community outreach and promotional strategy plan to engage local schools and special interest groups to introduce community youth to multi-disciplined cultural content.
- Develop a team of volunteers to support the youth programs.
- Coordinate youth programs to liaise with various community partners, make occasional presentations to students, organizations and community groups and venues.
- Attend all programs as outlined in the mandatory activities.
- Attend professional development opportunities provided.
- Develop and maintain networks and relationships with key stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation of applicable grants, write monthly reports to the Executive Director summarizing the activities, propose recommendations for future initiatives and improvements to the program.
- Sits as a non-voting member of the production committee, responsible for representing the youth program.
- Through strategic leadership and programming, ensures professional presentation with satisfied stakeholders and program participants.
- Accountable for day-to-day operations under the guidance of the Executive Director, ensuring program activities are safe, educational, inclusive, high quality and meets Theatre Sarnia's overall goals.

**Requirements**:
Education: Post secondary education in performing arts, arts administration and/or related fields or equivalent experience.

**Experience**:
At least five years previous experience in overseeing and coordinating programs such as artistic and/or educational programs, community outreach initiatives, in the performing arts sector. Previous experience in program delivery and public speaking is an asset. Experience working with youth is essential.

**Skills**:

- Training in youth development and mental health
- Excellent knowledge of performing arts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of education and community outreach programs in the performing arts
- Knowledge of Sarnia-Lambton as it specifically relates to the cultural and educational sector is an asset
- Must be reliable with the ability to work independently
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast paced, changing environment
- Demonstrated computer skills to include Google workspace programs
- Good customer service skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of participants, staff and patrons in a courteous and efficient manner
