Hamilton, Canada Empowerment Squared Full time

**Position Description**

Empowerment Squared is seeking a new full time team member responsible for providing leadership and assistance with Empowerment Squared’s Sports and Recreation activities and other initiatives for newcomer and marginalized families to further Empowerment Squared’s mission and vision. The Coordinator, Sports and Recreation will work closely with the Manager and other team members to execute programming, and participate in strategic planning, outreach, reporting and administration.

This position is required to work in-person primarily at Empowerment Squared’s headquarters at 26 Arrowsmith Road, Hamilton L8E 4H8. Programming may occur at various locations in Hamilton and after school hours.

**Key Responsibilities - Program Coordination and Facilitation**

**1. Program Development**:

- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement programs and initiatives.
- Support curriculum development for various programs throughout the year, organizing programs under the UBUNTU framework with an emphasis on wellness.
- Provide mentorship and support to youth and their families.
- Facilitate group programming and individual follow-up, including regular check-ins with program participants and/or guardians where appropriate.
- Facilitate rentals of gym space including supervision of rentals.
- Escalate key issues/risks to Manager and ensure timely action to maintain program timelines.
- Administrative Support, including, but not limited to:
i. Communicate and track programs and projects using virtual tools including Google suite, Zoom, WhatsApp, and CRM system.

ii. Managing attendance and enrollment lists, reminder calls, answering phone calls.

iii. Monitoring budgets including creating finance requisition and expense reports.

iv. Support programs launch and closure, including reports, evaluations, and feedback meetings.

v. Allocate and organize work plans and resources efficiently and effective.

**2. Community Outreach and Engagement**:

- Support community outreach initiatives to raise awareness of Empowerment Squared and its programs.
- Represent the organization at community meetings, conferences, and other public forums.
- Rapport building with participants and community members.

**3. Volunteer Coordination and Support**:

- Schedule and coordinate volunteer activities, ensuring adequate coverage and effective use of volunteer resources.
- Provide ongoing support and supervision to volunteers, addressing any issues or concerns as they arise.

**Qualification - Education and Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree or higher or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in sports programming or a related role.
- Proven experience in curriculum development and program evaluation.

**Expectations and Working Conditions**
- Carry out the above duties in a professional manner.
- Advance personal knowledge of all aspects of the programs through training and education.
- This position may require occasional evening or weekend work to accommodate program schedules.
- Travel may be required to attend meetings, conferences, and program events.
