**Job Title**: New Toronto Street Food Bank Worker

**Reporting to**: Client Programs Manager

**Salary**: Level 4, Step 1 - **$42,232.46**

**Terms**: 2 Full-time positions, 35 hours per week each

**Location**: 191 New Toronto Street, Toronto, ON, M8V 2E7

**POSITION OVERVIEW**

The New Toronto Street Food Bank Worker provides direct support to clients accessing Daily Bread’s
New Toronto Street Food Bank and Community Meal Program. This hands-on, front-line worker position will assist the Food Bank Coordinator and Lead Food Bank Worker with the operations of the New
Toronto Street Food Bank and Community Meal Program. **Working weekends are required**.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Establish an atmosphere of respect and dignity in all areas of the program that includes**:
− Ensuring confidentiality of information
− Creating a warm, welcoming, and respectful environment for clients and volunteers
− Respecting the cultural, religious, and personal preferences and customs of clients

**Food bank operations**:
− Receive and store food and produce orders
− Inventory control
− Stock products on shelves
− Client check-in
− Provide excellent customer service
− Ensure efficient flow to service
− Waste management
− Cleaning of food bank space
− Train volunteers on routine tasks
− Delegate tasks to volunteers
− Volunteer check-in (weekends)
− Direct clients to Information & Referral Services
− Assist with new client registrations

**Food Service**

− Make sandwiches for food bank clients− Package meals from the kitchen for food bank clients− Set up lunch for staff and volunteers on weekends− Set up dining area for community meal program− Serve community meal clients− Clean-up of dining area and food preparation areas as required

**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE OR EQUIVALENT**
- Customer service experience in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of individuals
- Food service, retail or warehouse experiences are assets
- Experience working in a food bank, drop-in or social service program is an asset
- Lived experience as an individual who lives or has lived on a low income
- Lived experience as a member of an equity seeking group is an asset
- Education in crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, or conflict management an asset
- Fluency in more than one language is an asset
- Safe food handling certification an asset (employer will train if required)

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
Daily Bread’s New Toronto Street Food Bank exists within a warehouse where heavy machinery is used, temperature fluctuates depending on the season and high noise levels are present. This position requires a lot of physical activity, walking and standing for long periods. This position requires the lifting of boxes up to 50 lbs.
