**THE OPPORTUNITY**

**What You’ll Do**: As Total Rewards Manager, you will play a critical role in building and implementing our global Total Rewards strategy across the organization, enhancing the employee experience, and providing leadership on compensation and benefits to ensure competitiveness within the industry. You will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing and executing global total reward programs for Western, as well as overseeing the coordination of all leave programs and related policy management.

You are an individual who can utilize business acumen, analytical insights and expert Excel skills to present recommendations for complex business and compensation objectives. You are a collaborative team partner that values fun, learning and can be a key partner for Senior Leadership, the HR team, and our employees.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Total Rewards**
- Formulate and implement optimal best-in-class solutions to improve our total rewards offering by conducting competitive analysis and assessing current trends and best practices in our market and industry.
- Strategically assess the effectiveness of current programs in achieving organizational objectives, identifies best practices and benchmarks, and develops recommendations for modifications to align to HR strategy and business goals.
- Oversee our benefit and pension programs through research, analysis, evaluation, and performance monitoring.
- Lead and execute the total rewards strategy and programs in alignment with business needs, including salaried and US hourly compensation, compensation design, incentive plans, group benefit plans, group retirement pension plans, disability and HR Reporting.
- Develop, implement and administer reward programs for all operations (Canada, US, China & Japan) and design and maintain pay structures, rates and related policies, reflecting Western’s compensation philosophy.
- Drive annual compensation benchmarking and job evaluation.
- Develop and maintain a Pay Equity review including establishing program, role architecture, job evaluations, and job pay band analysis.
- Act as project manager for total rewards for all acquisitions; including integration of newly acquired businesses and employees into current benefits, continuity of care and coverage is established.
- Develop, monitor and maintain corporate wide compensation policies.
- Annual salary survey completion and analysis; becoming an active member of WFICC.
- Develop and coordinate communications strategies and activities designed to educate and inform employees about total rewards.

**Performance Management**
- Coordinate and drive the annual Performance Management and Compensation Calibration processes.
- Monitor adherence to talent processes and provide reports and metrics relevant to talent management.

**Leave Management**
- Responsible for developing, implementing and advising on the Leave Management programs in Canada, such as disability and maternity leave.
- Support and guide HR Advisors and Business Partners on workers compensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits issues.
- As needed, communicates with employees regarding their needs for disability leave. Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.
- May act as liaison between the insurance carrier case manager, management and payroll during the duration of the leave.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education and Experience**
- 8+ years’ progressive HR experience.
- Total rewards functional experience, including executive compensation, preferably in multi-site, multi-country organization.
- Expert Excel knowledge and HRIS skills (ADP preferred).
- Strong writing skills, including ability to create proposal presentations, training material, briefing notes etc.
- Ability to study and analyze complex business and compensation objectives and make recommendations to resolve concerns or meet objectives.

**Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies**
- Extensive knowledge of Total Rewards strategy and program design and execution including health and wellness, benefits, retirement, pensions, merit, incentive plans, and compensation design.
- In depth understanding of external best practices and innovative trends as applicable to Total Reward & Executive Compensation Programs.
- Familiar with the benefits-related legal framework and labour market practices in Canada and the US.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills to effectively deal with multiple stakeholders.
