The Land Management Branch is an effective steward of public land for the benefit of current and future generations of all Yukon people.

As a member of the Land Use unit within the Land Management Branch, the Project Manager assumes leadership in the development, planning and implementation of small, medium and large-scale projects. Examples of projects include land reclamation/site clean-ups, gravel pit development and reclamation, and management of unauthorized uses/occupancies on public land. This position spends approximately 60% of their time in an office setting and 40% in a field setting to meet clients/contractors on site, conduct preliminary or follow-up site inspections, and to undertake site reclamation/clean-up work.

This position works extensively with a variety of stakeholders including contractors, First Nations and other government departments. The position interprets a wide variety of legislation and policies to provide resource management and technical advisory services to senior management, staff and clients. The position also conducts research and provides technical and operational expertise in the development of policy and legislation.

**Essential Qualifications**

- Degree in environmental science, natural resource management or related field.
- Experience working on complex projects with a variety of stakeholders, including First Nations, who have diverse interests;
- Experience in project management related to land reclamation including planning, preparing tenders and contracts, and managing contracts, budgets and contractors;
- Extensive experience planning, coordinating and conducting fieldwork in a natural resource environment using field based technology (GPS, mapping software (ArcGIS)).

Applicants with post-secondary education combined with considerable experience equivalent to the essential qualifications may be considered.

- Extensive operational experience in natural resource management
- Ability to plan and implement components of complex projects against critical deadlines
- Ability to prioritize and quickly adapt to change
- Ability to build consensus, diffuse and resolve conflicts with stakeholders and contractors
- Ability to act independently as well as part of a team in a client service oriented environment
- Effective problem solving and decision making skills
- Ability to build collaborative working relationships
- Ability to operate power tools such as chainsaws and sawzalls

**Conditions of Employment**:

- Valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s license

**Job Requirements**:

- Ability to work and/or travel (sometimes alone) for extended and irregular periods, in all seasons and terrain types, often in remote settings, using a variety of vehicle types ex. trucks, all-terrain vehicles, helicopters, boats etc.
- Overnight camping may also be a seasonal requirement
- Use of personal protective equipment
- Willingness to take all required health and safety training
