As the Team Lead, Project Controls you are accountable for coordinating day-day tasks between schedulers, cost control specialists, and risk analysts. You are highly specialized in project management areas such as project planning, cost control, project risk management, and project change management. This position includes training and ensuring the implementation of best practices in project controls and involves actively participating in the development of the operational plan for the EPCOR Water Services (EWS), Project Management team and identifying objectives and priorities for the upcoming year.

What you’d be responsible for
- Responsible for implementing company project controls program, procedures, and standards within the context and prescribed limit set by the Stratum 2 Manager, including but not limited to:

- providing technical insights and expertise to support decision making
- assigning tasks
- problem solving and resolution
- developing & delivering training tools and methods
- coaching and providing performance feedback
- making recommendations, workplace improvements
- assisting with investigations, incident reporting, safe work practices
- Acting as the liaison between Project Controls Schedulers and other project management team, i.e., cost control specialists, risk analyst, estimators, project managers, etc.
- Providing input to the Manager, Project Controls plans and directions, and ensure on-going appropriate relationships with other positions
- Assists in development of Operational Plan for PMO in Water Services and the identification of objectives and priorities (annual work plan) for the upcoming year
- Actively provides direction and collaboration with the Project Controls team by:

- Conducting overall project planning, for the entire project lifecycle, for capital projects in collaboration with project team
- Developing and implementing best-practice processes utilizing Primavera P6, for project planning and scheduling
- Developing and implementing best-practice processes utilizing Microsoft Power BI, Excel, Power Queries, and other tools, for data analysis, data visualization and reporting
- Supporting Project Cost Control specialists with the tracking of project costs against budget and report project finances
- Advising Project Managers and team of schedule risks and opportunities including potential strategies and solutions to improve the overall schedule to minimize the critical path
- Develop, baseline and update project schedules for the entire portfolio of Water Services capital projects
- Collaborates with colleagues and project stakeholders to resolve issues or concerns
- Ensuring that project/program/portfolio risk and contingency is accounted for and managed appropriately
- Demonstrates a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative, and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working
- Other accountabilities as assigned.

What’s required to be successful
- Successful completion of a two-year technical diploma or degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operational Management, Project Management, or a relatable field from a recognized post-secondary institute
- 7 - 10 years’ direct relatable experience
- supervisory experience considered an asset
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or other PMI designation considered an asset
- Knowledgeable with best practices in planning, project management and construction
- Strong planning skills and high analytical capability, including attention to detail for the quality and accuracy of information provided
- Expert knowledge, understanding and skillset using software, scheduling tools and practices, such as:

- Primavera P6
- Power BI
- Excel / Power Query / Power Pivot / Power View
- ERP Systems - Oracle, SAP, or similar systems
- Cost Controls, Budgeting & Forecasting, Tracking
- Cost and Cash Flow Reporting at project, program and portfolio levels
- Risk Management, Risk Analysis, Monte Carlo Simulation
- Knowledge of methods, practices, material, equipment, and labour requirements in all phases of construction in municipal utility projects
